Hello and welcome to your Gratitude Body Scan Meditation.
My name is Brittany Lynn and this is a practice today to help you on your own journey of beautifully awakening.
I invite you to find a comfortable place to sit.
Gently close your eyes.
And if it feels comfortable for you today,
Rather than keeping your hands in stillness,
You might place your hands on the places of the body that we are sending gratitude to in order to bring that beautiful energy of thanks and appreciation to these places.
If it feels more comfortable for you to rest your hands in stillness,
That's always available as well.
And take a moment to breathe deeply as you arrive.
And try to add an extra second onto every inhale that you take.
And add an extra second onto every exhale.
Feel your sit bones rooted down into your seat and the lifting up through the crown of your head.
And just notice how you feel in this moment.
Notice how you feel in your body.
Notice how you feel in your mind,
In your emotions.
There's no right or wrong.
Just become aware.
Start to invite any obvious tensions in the body to gently soften and relax.
And as you continue to breathe deeply,
Start to bring your awareness up to your head.
And as you invite all of the little muscles to relax in your face,
Start to send a little thanks and gratitude to your mind for being able to think,
For being able to store beautiful memories.
And your mind for everything that it does for you,
For being able to have choice.
And start to send that thanks and gratitude to your eyes if you're able to see.
Being able to experience all of the wonderful beauty around you,
To experience shape and color and light.
And thanks and gratitude to your nose for being able to smell.
Feel that warm cup of coffee or that beautiful flower on your path.
Send that gratitude to your ears for being able to hear.
What can you hear right now?
How amazing that you're able to hear.
And extend that gratitude to your tongue for being able to taste,
To taste your favorite meal,
For giving you the ability to speak and communicate,
And to your skin for being able to feel.
As you let go of the stories or any resistance,
Can you give thanks to the wrinkles and laugh lines and scars that tell this beautiful story of your life?
Just seeing them in a different way.
Begin to send that thanks and gratitude down through your shoulders to your arms.
Thank your arms for being able to embrace.
And your hands.
These hands that reach out that are a connection to the outside world for being able to feel.
For being able to be an extension of communication.
Being able to touch and hold.
Give appreciation to your hands for everything they do for you.
And as you relax through your arms and hands,
Begin to send that gratitude inward.
And gently soften your belly as you give thanks and appreciation to your internal organs.
For digesting and processing.
For doing things that you might not even understand.
And you thank all of the beautiful functions that your body does for you.
And start to send that thanks up into the space of your chest and heart.
Into your lungs.
Thank your body for this breath.
And this one.
And this breath.
Thank your heart for beating for you in every moment of every single day of your life.
And send that thanks and gratitude through your body and to the backside of your body.
And as you allow yourself to be supported,
Give thanks to your back where you get to lay and rest on at night.
Give thanks to your spine.
For your spinal column.
For housing this beautiful free way of communication from your brain to every place in the body.
Send that gratitude down to your legs.
If you're able to walk,
Give thanks to be able to walk.
If you're able to sit,
Give thanks to your legs for being this foundation on which you get to sit.
And hold the rest of your body up.
And send that thanks all the way down to your feet.
They are literally the furthest things from your mind.
Can you give thanks and gratitude to your feet for walking you through your days?
For being this connection to the earth below you which is connected to everything else.
Thank you feet.
And send this thanks and gratitude to your entire body for everything it does for you.
For supporting you.
And for everything it allows you to do.
Thank you body for being there for me.
And as you breathe into this full body gratitude,
Just know that you are alive right now.
Just feel that aliveness.
And give thanks to your body and your mind for everything they do for you.
Maybe you lift the corners of your mouth up into a smile and notice how that feels.
Really take a moment to thank yourself for carving out this time just for you.
For practicing here today.
Notice how you feel right now.
There's no right or wrong.
Simply become aware of how your body feels.
How your mind feels.
How your emotions feel.
Everything starts with the self.
And with this attitude of gratitude starting with the self,
Let's take this thanks out into the world around us.
Take a full deep breath in through your nose.
And a long sigh exhale it out.
Before you open your eyes just take a moment to wiggle your fingers and toes.
How wonderful that we can wiggle our fingers and toes.
And as you feel ready I invite you to make your way back into your day by gently blinking your eyes open and coming back into the space that you're in.
Giving gratitude to the space around you that supported you for your practice.
And see if you can take this practice of gratitude with you.
Seeing the value in things around you and within you.
And giving thanks to all that you have and the experiences that cross your path.
And I want to thank you so very much for taking your time to practice with me today.
The goodness and light that's within me honors the goodness and light within you.
Namaste.
