It’s a common misconception in meditation that we are to simply shut off the mind, still all thoughts. Thoughts are not the enemy. The mind's sole purpose is to think and it will continue to do so. We aim to focus that thinking in a single direction. Some days that will be easier than others and that is a commonality for all of us in meditation.
