So another root lock that we engage in breast work is the Uddiyana Bandha,
And it's not used as often as you might hear the Mula Bandha,
Which is the the root lock.
The Uddiyana Bandha is essentially the core.
And it's.
That's what you might engage if you're doing boat pose.
But it's also what you'll be snapping and a kapalabhate or breath of fire.
Breath work.
So it's a snap.
And again,
I always like to use boat pose as an example.
Imagine.
You're just leaning back just a little bit.
You'll feel the core engage a little bit,
But there's also a little bit of Uddiyana Bandha.
Going on.
So again,
The Uddiyana Bandha.
Is.
Located just and just below the belly.
Just underneath the belly and it's it is a lot of your core and so what happens is when you practice engaging Uddiyana Bandha and Mula Bandha,
The root lock,
You're going to do that on the exhale.
So they work together.
Engage Uddiyana Bandha and then Mula Bandha on the exhale.
And what that does is it helps to kind of tone.
Tone your body a little bit and it helps to prepare you for some of your more active asanas your arm balances and your inversions and such So Uddiyana Bandha is really important to kind of practice.
In the safety of breath work.
But don't think that you will only practice this in.
.
.
Breath work.
You can also engage it in some of your more challenging asanas.
But again,
What's really important for you to remember with Uddiyana Bandha.
Is it is sort of like a squeezing of nature.
It's engaging the abs,
It's a compressing,
A pulling together.
But remember that you don't want to do it on the inhale.
So we never engage Uddiyana Bandha on the inhale.
So if you hear somebody squeezing,
The abdomen on the inhale,
It's kind of backwards.
You want to engage Uddiyana Bandha on the exhale like you would in breath of fire.
So that is Uddiyana Bandha.
