Centering Prayer stems from Christian monastics to draw practitioners to a deeper experience with God. The practice uses a sacred word to help anchor our minds as we enter into 20 minutes of silence. This track's sacred word is maranatha, which means "Come, Lord." You'll repeat this word when your thoughts try to draw you away from the silence. You'll also hear a chime every five minutes in case the sacred word gets away from you. Music: "Soothing Oasis" by Chris Collins at Indie Music Box.

Centering prayer is a type of meditation where we seek a connection or a deeper connection with God.

And although the practice is relatively simple,

It doesn't mean that it's easy.

So we sit in silence,

Typically for about 20 minutes.

And we use a sacred word.

And so you can choose a sacred word of your own.

But that word is that consent.

And that consent is allowing God to be present within you.

And one sacred word I've chosen is Maranatha.

And Maranatha means come Lord,

Or the Lord is here.

And so you can chant it with one note,

Maranatha.

Or you can just say it silently inside.

Or you can whisper it,

Maranatha.

You can say it very,

Very slowly,

Maranatha.

Or you can just say it inside the way you would any other sacred word.

So again,

The point is that word serves as a calling back.

So it's that consent,

But it also helps anchor you into the present.

So hopefully you're sitting comfortably and your eyes are closed.

I will ring a bell every five minutes.

So in case the mantra has come away,

Has gone away,

You can use that bell to call you back and then say the mantra.

Say the sacred word.

So when the 20 minutes are up,

I will sound the bell three times.

And then you can sit for a moment or two in silence.

So let's begin.

And when the 20 minutes are up,

You can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

And then you can say the sacred word.

Excellent! I love all of your meditations! MA RA NA SA was a new concept to me and it would be helpful if you could repeat the meaning several times.
