Lovingly Letting Go Of Fear, Grief And Shame
This meditation will help anyone that is looking for support with letting go of fear, shame and grief. This guided meditation will meet you exactly where you are and help you compassionately explore and express your truth. It pairs very well with 15 minutes of journaling post-meditation. Writing prompt (post-meditation) "Is there anything in 2020 that you are unwilling to look at or feel?"
Transcript
Good morning and welcome to the Artist's Morning.
My name is Darius and this is a 20-minute guided meditation intended to help you carve out a little bit of time before the end of this year,
Before the end of this unprecedented year called 2020 and reflect and feel and just take stock of perhaps all of the growth that you have experienced in this last year.
This meditation is a two-part meditation.
Today we will explore and reflect on any feelings that maybe there is an intensity to,
Maybe we have not fully processed and we will see if there's a loving,
Compassionate way to feel them,
To learn from them and to let them go.
Friday's meditation will pair with this meditation and it will be an exploration of this next level of our being.
An exploration of the feelings,
The sensations and the frequency that is available to us once we are able to fully acknowledge,
Reflect and feel what 2020 meant to us.
As with all meditations this is your time.
You get to decide how deep,
How far you want to go.
There will be invitations to think of things and try things and if they don't feel right to you that's okay.
But if you are willing,
If you are ready there might be something beautiful for us to explore together.
With that I invite you now to get comfortable in your seat,
Take a nice deep breath and if your eyes are open close them now.
As we go inwards together,
As we hold space for ourselves,
For our feelings,
For our heart,
Take a nice deep breath,
Giving yourself permission to let go,
To let go of the breath you are holding,
To let go of the weight on your shoulders,
To let go of the tension in your forehead.
We have a short amount of time here together this morning and my invitation to you,
To your artist,
To your creator is to just be here as you are now.
Taking a nice deep breath,
Bringing softness to your body,
Knowing you are safe here,
You are supported here as we explore and reflect on this past year together.
At any point if you feel things are a bit too intense,
A reminder that you are a powerful being,
A powerful creator and you get to choose how far and deep you get this morning with this meditation.
Feeling again what's alive and accessible for you this morning.
Taking a breath into your heart,
Noticing any sensations sitting right at the surface of your heart,
Softening your forehead,
Softening your shoulders,
Staying with your heart.
As we go back in time to reflect on this past year,
I want to remind you that you have access to stay in the seat of your soul for this experience,
The seat of your highest self.
Let's begin going back,
Remembering the beginning of this year 2020,
Going back in time,
Just floating through the year,
January to December and just allowing yourself to naturally gravitate to any emotionally anchored moment.
I know so much has happened in this past year but perhaps there is a place,
An experience,
A relationship that is particularly energized this morning.
And if you feel safe,
We will go back to those moments,
Those moments where maybe you experienced fear,
Grief,
Shame,
And the opportunity here is to feel them through so that you can release them without bypassing the actual experience.
Taking a deep breath,
Remembering you are a powerful being,
You are always supported,
You are always guided,
You have access to infinite strength and grounding through the seat of your soul.
And from that place I invite you to reflect back,
2020.
Feel it.
There is any fear,
Any grief,
Any shame,
Any pain,
Any pain,
Maybe it's yours,
Maybe it's been passed down to you,
My offering to you dear artist,
Dear creator,
Is that maybe there is a gift in those intense experiences,
Sometimes deeply challenging moments are where we grow and expand.
They can be opportunities to soar,
But first we need to stand,
Look up into them,
And feel them all the way.
A reminder that if this does not feel supportive in this moment for you,
You can take a few deep breaths,
You can choose how far you go.
These sensations,
These experiences sometimes feel like chaos,
Like a storm.
I want you to imagine you are standing in this storm,
Wind,
Rain,
Thunder all over you,
But you,
You are standing in your power as well.
Feel the strength of your legs beneath you,
Feel the power in your hands,
Feel your courage for not running away,
Even if you're scared,
Even if you're not sure of what will happen,
Taking a nice deep breath in your mind's eye in the middle of this storm.
I invite you to raise your chin and look this storm in the eye,
Feel the wind,
Hear the storm,
Feel your feet beneath you,
Feel the life pulsing through you.
In this fear,
This shame,
This grief,
Maybe you are not ready to let it go,
And I want to say that's okay.
This is your timeline,
This is your life.
It's okay to want to hold on to it,
But I want you to choose,
I want it to be your decision,
Because you are a powerful creator.
And if that's what you choose,
I want you to imagine in your right hand those sensations,
I want you to grip them tight,
And feel your agency and your power to decide to hold on to them.
Not forever,
But maybe you want to hold on to them for a little longer and that's okay.
Squeezing your right hand now,
Feeling your power and your agency to decide to hold on to fear,
Shame and grief.
And maybe you have got the lesson,
You have felt the feeling,
And you are ready to let go.
If so,
Open your right hand fully,
With your breath on your exhale,
Blow it away.
And watch it dissipate into the air,
Watch it float away,
And see if that feels lighter inside you now.
And whether you decided you were ready to let go,
Or you decided to hold on tighter to sensations of fear,
Shame or grief.
I want to let you know there's no right or wrong way.
What's important is you carved out some time for yourself to reflect,
To feel,
To remember and to grow through this past year.
With this last song,
I want to give you some space and time to just feel yourself.
Space and time to really remember how much you've been through,
How much you love,
How much you dream.
I'll stay quiet for the rest of this song and let you explore,
Experience and express.

Dear artist.
Bravo,
Dear creator.
Wherever you went,
However far you traveled,
However you felt or did not feel,
I honor and respect you for carving out a little bit of time this morning for yourself,
For your heart,
For your human and for your soul.
For those of you that are joining us live at the Artist's Morning,
I'll put 15 minutes on the clock and give you some time and space to express whatever came up for you through some journaling this morning.
And if you're joining us on a replay,
I invite you to do the same,
Put 15 minutes on your own clock and use your pen and paper as your canvas and as a tool to express your heart.
Thank you for meditating with us this morning.
It's been an honor.
My name's Darius and I'll see you next time.

This was my first time meditating with you but it won’t be my last. I loved your approach and the visceral way you described standing in the storm of our powerful emotions—very unique and effective. I felt myself growing stronger because of it, and for that I am so thankful. You helped me today, Darius. My deepest thanks to you. 🙏🏻❤️

I didn’t know how much I needed to let go. 2020 was a year of grief & addressing that was so freeing. I feel lighter & optimistic about the future for the first time in a long while. Thank you for this gift!
