Insight Into The Nature Of Mind
by Chad Foreman
This powerful guided meditation introduces you to your naturally occurring unbounded awareness through introspection and self-inquiry. This helps you to experience the bliss, emptiness and spaciousness of the nature of mind. Self inquiry is one of the most direct paths to understanding the truth of who you are and this guided meditation is a powerful way to bring deep insights. The nature of mind is pointed out by experienced meditation teacher Chad Foreman. This meditation comes from the highest meditation practices of Tibetan Buddhist tradition of Mahamudra and is the fastest way to gain deep insight into your mind and overcome the false ego identification.

Π ΠΎΠΏ Π² Welcome to meditation.
Tonight as part of our series we'll be doing special insight or buddha nature meditations.
We'll start off with our postures and our breath just breathing into the body and see if you can feel your own body inhabit your body.
Sitting up as straight as possible.
See if you can feel your own body's presence.
The type of energy field that's surrounding your body.
Feel that tune into your own body.
We'll start off with some long slow breaths down into the belly.
So just in your own way breathing long deep breaths all the way into the belly.
As you breathe in just count to five.
Breathing in for five.
And then as you breathe out,
Breathe out a count of twelve.
So we're breathing out a lot longer than we're actually breathing in.
So just in your mind counting into five and breathing out to twelve.
Really push out that last little bit of air out of your lungs.
Breathing out all the stale air of the day.
Letting go of the past.
As you breathe out,
Allow your muscles to relax.
Consciously relax your shoulders.
Allow them to drop away from your neck.
Relax your face muscles.
Relax your hands.
Relax your feet.
As you breathe in,
Start to straighten up.
Become alert.
As you breathe out,
Relax and let go.
Feeling your muscles loosen and melt like butter in the hot sun.
Just imagine above you is a clear blue sky.
As you breathe in,
Imagine you're breathing in the blue light from the sky.
Imagine your whole body becomes blue light.
As you breathe out,
Continuing to breathe long,
Slow.
Breathing all the way out.
Imagine just breathing out all the dark clouds that represent any issues,
Any worries,
Any frustrations.
Breathe out your anger.
So every breath now,
Breathing in the blue sky,
You can imagine the blue sky coming in through your nostrils,
Through your crown,
Or even through the pores of your skin.
As we breathe out,
Let go of any negativity in the form of dark clouds or black smoke.
Breathe it all the way out.
As we practice a cleansing and purifying breath.
Imagine now that you've purified any dark clouds and there's nothing but blue sky.
So you're breathing in blue sky,
Blue light,
And now you're breathing out blue light.
This blue light is healing,
Energizing.
It's full of clarity,
Just like a clear sky on a beautiful clear day.
Imagine your body becomes light and in the nature of blue.
Surrounded by a blue glow.
Allow your breath to start to settle and slow,
Become natural.
As we start to tune into our own breath.
Place your attention on your breath.
And give rise to the intention that you won't be distracted by your thoughts,
Just for the period of this meditation.
If it helps you can label your thoughts as just thoughts.
We don't have to believe in any of them.
They're just thoughts.
So as they arise,
Just bring your attention as much as you can to your breath.
And give yourself permission to experience the tranquility,
Joy,
And simplicity of just being with your breath while sitting in meditation.
Thank you.
If you're following your thoughts and distracted by your thoughts,
It's the mistake of excitement.
We need to relax,
Settle into our meditation.
If you find yourself getting too sleepy,
You need to breathe a little bit deeper,
Straighten ourselves,
Alert ourselves.
Getting sleepy and dull is the mistake of dullness.
These are the two main mistakes of meditation,
Excitement and dullness.
Just allow your mind to settle in its own place,
Even and relaxed.
Become intimate with your own breath.
Notice the stages of your breath without controlling it.
Notice the in-breath,
Slight pause,
The out-breath,
A longer pause.
And just wait for the next in-breath to breathe itself.
So we let go of control,
Let go of manipulating anything,
Just allow ourselves to breathe naturally and be natural.
Notice the in-breath,
Slightly pause,
The out-breath,
A longer pause.
As our thoughts try to seduce us,
Constantly bring your attention back to the tranquility of your breath.
Breathing in,
I am aware I am breathing in.
Breathing out,
I am aware that I am breathing out.
As we practice simplicity and the art of contentment,
Simply sitting,
Simply breathing,
Simply letting things be,
Without trying to control or create peace,
We allow our minds to settle into its own peace.
As we practice simplicity and the art of contentment,
Simply sitting,
Simply breathing,
Simply letting things be,
Without trying to control or create peace,
We allow our minds to settle into its own peace.
As we allow our minds to rest naturally,
Start to become aware and dwell in your own awareness.
As you are breathing,
Notice that you are aware of your breathing.
As a type of witness,
A neutral observer of the breath,
Without trying to control the breath,
You are the witnesser of the breath.
So you can hear my voice.
Notice that you are aware of my voice.
Notice that you are aware of your posture.
Even as thoughts come and go,
You can be aware of those thoughts.
You are not your thoughts.
You are aware of them.
You can be aware of your breath.
We start to notice the difference between the contents of our awareness and the awareness itself.
And rest back,
Sit back into the seat of your awareness.
That's always there.
Your thoughts come and go.
Your breath rises and falls.
Other sounds come and go.
But your awareness is a constant stream flowing through time.
So,
Allow your awareness to broaden and take in everything around you.
Be aware of your posture,
Aware of your breath,
Aware of my voice,
Aware of any other sounds.
Don't cling or hold on to any of it.
Just rest back and be in your awareness as things come and go.
That's always there.
That's always there.
That's always there.
That's always there.
See if we can notice the awareness is mirror-like quality.
Just like a mirror,
It reflects whatever is put in front of it.
Without judging it,
Remain even.
Just reflect what's going on with awareness,
Not thinking about it.
But like a bright mirror,
Clearly knowing and reflecting whatever is put in front of it.
That's always there.
That's always there.
We don't have to force this awareness to happen.
That's always there in the background as the silent observer.
That's always there.
That's always there.
That's always there.
That's always there.
That's always there.
Let's take a deeper look at this awareness,
The silent witness.
Does it have a place?
When you look for it,
Can you find it anywhere?
Does your awareness have any shape,
Any form?
Turning your attention around,
Pointing the finger right back at yourself,
What are you looking at?
What is your awareness?
Does it have a color?
When we search for this awareness,
We see that we can't find it.
Has no boundaries.
It's empty of having any form,
Empty of shape.
It doesn't have any sound.
You can't hear it.
It's not your body because you're aware of your body.
It's not your thoughts.
You can be aware of your thoughts.
It's not your feelings.
You're aware of your feelings.
So it's something that can observe your body,
Observe your thoughts,
And observe your feelings.
It's clear and formless.
But even though it's clear and formless,
It's still aware,
It still reflects things like a mirror.
We can still know it has clarity,
It's consciousness itself.
Just like the sky and space allows forms to exist,
Our awareness allows anything to arise in it.
Our thoughts are like clouds drifting through our awareness.
Our awareness is unbounded,
Has no boundary.
And just like the clouds can't stain the sky,
Our thoughts and our feelings can't stain our fundamental awareness.
Therefore our awareness is fundamentally pure,
Just like the sky.
Whether there's white fluffy clouds or dark storm clouds,
The sky is unaffected.
This empty,
Luminous,
Unbounded awareness is your true nature.
It's naturally peaceful,
It's always present,
And luminous and knowing.
When we let go of all effort and all striving for anything else,
We can rest back in this natural great clarity.
Perfect already.
Right now,
Rest back in your natural perfection of awareness,
Empty and luminous.
Without attachment,
Without any hope or fear of anything,
Simply rest in the simplicity of your own awareness.
This is simply our awake nature.
Our awakened true self,
Without anywhere else to go,
Nothing else to seek for happiness.
We are whole and complete,
Perfect beings right now,
Right here.
Please never stop,
Please completely stop,
Always pay your life for this world.
Resting in our sky-like nature of mind,
Perfect just as it is.
Without any effort,
We let go of all of our thoughts,
Even the thought that we are meditating.
And just be.
Resting in our sky-like nature of mind,
Perfect just as it is.
Resting in our sky-like nature of mind,
Perfect just as it is.
Resting in our sky-like nature of mind,
Perfect just as it is.
Resting in our sky-like nature of mind,
Perfect just as it is.
Allow our awareness to grow and expand beyond all limits.
Open,
Expansive,
Sky-light perfection.
Resting in our sky-light perfection.
Resting in our sky-light perfection.
Resting in our sky-light perfection.
Resting in our sky-light perfection.
Resting in our sky-light perfection.
Resting in our sky-light perfection.
Resting in our sky-light perfection.

I'm changing my review as every time l do this meditation it feels different and l really want to express my gratitude Thank you for guiding us so very skillfully! To know and observe that l am breathing all the while when l am breathing is a very delicious and mind-boggling experience. Almost as if l'm split in two. To do and observe the doing from a different place simultaneously- what a trip. I will bookmark and listen again.

As a mirror. Who? I donβt know. Just as a mirror. Eye opening, yet I already knew this all.
