A meditative morning prayer to begin the day in the Christian tradition, with influences from Buddhism and Sufism (notably Hafiz, "I am a hole in the flute that Christ's breath moves through.")

Waking up this morning, I smile. A new 24 hours to live. I vow to live each hour deeply and learn to smile on all beings with the eyes of compassion. O God, At whose bidding all things move as you think best for them, Whose blessing falls at all those who love you enough to trust you utterly, My soul praises you with the energy it draws from the Spirit. The whole of my being praises you, Lord, For if you so will it, God, Today I shall be yours. May this day and all situations that arise be a source of awakening for our hearts. May they be the ears of Christ. May they be the eyes of Christ. When our eyes see, May they be the eyes of Christ. When our mouths speak, May they speak the words of Christ. May they be the eyes of Christ. May they be the eyes of Christ. And when we breathe, May our breath be the breath of Christ. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. Amen.
