Welcome to this Man on the Path to Love meditation.
Letting go of the future you thought you'd have.
Find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down,
Whatever feels right for you.
And when you're ready,
Gently close your eyes.
And if you don't feel like closing your eyes,
Simply soften your gaze.
Now take a slow,
Deep breath in and exhale.
Again,
Slowly inhale and let it all go.
And now return to your natural way of breathing.
Allow your body to settle and allow your mind to begin to slow down.
There's nothing you need to do right now.
Nowhere you need to go.
Just be here in this moment.
Now,
Bring your attention to your breath,
Your natural,
Normal way of breathing.
Not forcing it,
Just noticing it.
The rise and the fall.
Now take a moment to gently scan your body.
Notice any areas of tension that you may be holding.
In your shoulders,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw,
In your chest,
Your stomach,
Maybe your arms and hands,
Legs and feet.
And as you notice this tension in your body,
Take a deep breath in.
And on the exhale,
See if you can just soften a little bit.
Just a little bit.
No pressure to fully relax.
Just do the best you can.
Just a small shift and that's enough.
Gradually allow your body to let go more and more.
No pressure,
Just soften.
Now,
When a relationship ends,
You're not just losing the person.
You're also losing the future you thought you were building.
The plans,
The routines,
All the moments you imagined.
And sometimes that's the part that's the hardest to let go of.
Not just what was,
But what could have been.
I invite you now to gently bring to mind an image of that future,
Of what could have been.
Maybe it's something specific or just a general feeling of what life was supposed to look like.
Take a moment and notice what comes up for you.
And as you hold that image,
Notice where you feel it in your body.
Is it in your chest?
Your stomach?
Your throat?
Wherever it is in your body,
Just notice without any judgment.
Just observe what is in this moment.
Now,
Imagine holding that future in your hands.
Not forcing it away,
Not pushing it away.
Pushing it down,
Just holding it.
And as you take a slow breath in and gently breathe out,
Begin to loosen your grip on that future.
Not all at once,
Just a little.
Letting it soften,
Letting it shift,
Letting it be something you don't have to carry so tightly anymore.
And say to yourself,
Either silently in your mind or out loud,
I release what I thought it would be.
Again,
I release what I thought it would be.
One more time,
I release what I thought it would be.
Now,
In releasing and letting go,
Doesn't mean it didn't matter.
Doesn't mean it wasn't real.
It simply means you're making space.
Making space for something new.
Allowing for something new.
Something more aligned.
And something that fits the man you are becoming.
Now,
Take a moment to imagine that you are that man you're becoming.
Your future self.
And you don't have to have the future figured out right now.
Just have fun with it.
Just let your imagination run free.
And as you do,
Imagining your future self,
That future man you're becoming,
Notice what you're feeling.
Notice what you see.
What you smell.
Taste and hear.
I invite you now to bring your awareness back to your breath.
Noticing your in-breath and your out-breath.
Your natural way of breathing.
As you notice your in-breath and out-breath,
Feel your breath in your body.
Where is it showing up in your body?
Breath and body only know this moment.
And that's where we want to be.
As you notice your breath in your body,
Feeling your body supported and grounded,
Take a deep,
Slow breath in and out.
And again,
You don't have to figure out the future today.
For now,
Realize that you've done something very powerful.
You've begun to let go.
Take that in and own it.
You're doing the work.
You are rebuilding.
One more time.
Take a deep,
Slow breath in and slowly let it all go.
And when you feel the time is right and you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
This is the part of the path forward for you.
And you don't have to walk it alone.
Thank you for sharing your practice with me today.
