Hey,
Welcome to a hit of hope.
What to do?
Seriously,
What to do in this world of ours where the volume of everything feels cranked up as high as it can go?
Breathe.
You might think that's just me drinking too much kombucha again.
My brain's all mushy woo woo because how in the hell can one breath help right now?
Did you know that the Navy SEALs,
Some of the best,
The bravest,
The strongest,
Use what is called boxed breathing to help them in intensely stressful situations?
Because they know.
They know it helps them calm down so they can focus on the task ahead.
They breathe to reach a state of calm which allows them to be alert,
Ready,
Capable of doing the hard thing they've been asked to do.
If you aren't familiar with boxed breathing,
It goes like this.
You inhale for the count of four,
Hold your breath for the count of four,
Exhale for four,
And hold on no breath for four.
So here we go.
Big exhale.
Inhale,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold your breath,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold on no breath,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale,
Hold,
Exhale.
Keep breathing.
Hold your breath.
Let it go.
Hold on no breath.
As you are doing this,
The mind might rush back in,
Bringing you all the madness.
There's so much to do,
So much to fear.
It's okay.
It's what the mind does,
But like a puppy.
Can you bring it back?
Can you settle it gently?
Hey there,
I know,
But let's sit and stay.
Let's calm down and focus.
Inhale.
Hold.
Exhale.
Hold on no breath and keep going,
Knowing that you always have this possibility when things get hard,
When the world feels too much.
Come back to your breath so you can calm the body and focus on whatever's ahead.
Breathe.
Find your way into that state of calm,
Capable to do whatever is next.
May you live light and shine.
