Hello dear one.

Hello to you and your heart.

You and your spirit.

Hello to you and your breath and your body and your light inside.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Welcome to a hit of hope and this one is salty.

I can say thoughts have power and you might nod vaguely.

It's something we all know but do we really know this?

Inhale.

Exhale.

If a thought was like a fishhook with barbs designed to sink in deep,

Would you carelessly pick up that hook?

Would you intentionally carry it around all day,

Every day?

Inhale.

Exhale.

If a thought was like a bog where you knew the ground was unsteady,

Ready to pull you under,

Would you take the path that pulled you into the bog?

Or would you find the one that moved you away from it?

Inhale.

Exhale.

Thoughts have power.

The voices in the world are ready to hook us and drag us under.

We hear how we are bad.

Too much or not enough.

We hear how we have to look.

How we have to achieve.

It can be exhausting.

Inhale.

Exhale.

What if we re-mind?

What if we choose not to pick up the barbed thoughts?

What if we choose to walk away from the bottomless bog?

If you've been raised with the idea that you are born sinful and bad,

What if you choose to re-mind?

What if you choose to say,

I am a holy being filled with light and purpose?

If you've been told by the world you need to be perfect,

What if you choose to re-mind?

What if you choose to say,

I am a human being practicing this complicated art of living?

If you've been told you are not enough or that you are too much,

What if you choose to re-mind?

What if you choose to say,

I am a strange and wondrous being,

And I can't wait to find the people who honor that,

Who support that,

Who love me,

The real me.

Inhale.

Exhale.

You are enough.

You are worthy.

Dammit,

You are okay,

Just as you are.

You are wondrous and strange,

Holy and real.

Please do not argue.

Listen,

Would you give a baby a fishhook to play with?

Would you put a toddler on the ground and turn them in the direction of a bog?

Fuck no.

So why does society make us think we should do this to ourselves as adults?

Inhale.

Exhale.

Please re-mind yourself.

To leave the hooks and bogs behind.

Choose to pick up the good thoughts.

Tell yourself again and again,

I am enough.

I am worthy.

I am okay,

Just as I am.

Wondrous and strange.

Holy and real.

Live light.

This is a powerful message and I highly recommend listening to John Michael Williams song, “I am Enough” on Insight Timer to further reinforce the message. Thank you!

This is the best meditation about reminding myself that I am ok! I tend to have a "monkey mind” telling myself that what I did wasn’t done well enough. I strive for perfection in everything I do. I even make sure my hair clips all the way down to my shoes match! Thanks for sharing this meditation. I really enjoyed listening to you.🌸☀️🌈🙏🏻

I'm usually already in the bog before I realize I've allowed my thoughts to drag me there. Working on observing where the bogs are before heading that way. 😉

I don’t know Betsy personally but I know I would love to sit down with her and share a cup of tea and a warm homemade pecan cinnamon roll. I love love to talk with her and share a few good laughs. Her offering are brief but she always leaves me with a smile on my face and a lightened heart. Wherever you are Ms Betsy I hope you are having a wonderful blessed day.

You are so right on this "salty" talk. It can take a lot of work to reprogram thoughts that have been instilled since childhood, as well as damage caused along the road through life. It is possible, if we can see it, acknowledge it, and do the work 😏. ❤ your thoughts as always. Live Well 🙏💚

Fantastic meditation. Loved the play on the word remind and the visual examples of fish hook and bog ( I was once scuba diving and got caught by a fisherman with a big hook. )
