Hey there,
Welcome to A Hit of Hope.
Most days now I begin beside Big Water,
Or Lake Superior as it is known on a map.
As I walked along her shore the other day,
I realized something.
She never apologizes.
That Big Water is what she is.
Period.
She is a roaring isness,
A full-throated,
Can you feel all that I am?
And oh how I yearn for that.
I don't know about you,
But I am the first person to shrink from my own power.
And why is that?
Why do we feel ashamed of those energies that move us deeply?
Why do we continually murmur,
I'm sorry,
I'm sorry,
For our own wild churning?
One reason might be because we know wave and storm can wreak havoc,
Leaving behind the litter of destruction.
Our emotions and words,
Moods and actions can do the same.
So what are we to do?
Work and work to be ever placid and pleasing?
No,
Just no.
We do not have to live like puppets,
Mouthing scripted words,
Hiding behind perfect wooden faces,
All while feeling empty inside.
And at the same time,
We have to remember that raw,
Unchecked power can and does lead to destruction.
But here's the thing.
Unlike Big Water,
We get to choose.
We do not have to be big and wild and mindless.
We can choose.
We can choose to practice dancing now in chaos,
Now in stillness.
We can choose to live wild and boundaried.
We can choose to move and be helped.
Heck,
We can even be all hubba hubba to that tall drink of water over there,
The one in whose ear we might want to whisper,
Hey,
Wanna lick my toes?
And by God,
We get to laugh and be strange and cry and choose.
Inhale.
Exhale.
We can choose.
Is it a good day to be in the light,
To float and soften?
Or is now a good time to sink into a dark,
Quiet,
That's okay?
A dark,
Quiet that is safe because it's a chance to drop away from all that outer churning.
Inhale.
In your fluid center,
The one that holds ancient wonders,
The one that holds important lessons,
Lessons in both peace and passion,
Lessons in how to fall and rise and live a new day,
Ride a new wave,
Where this,
Can you feel all that I am,
All that is possible,
All that is strange and wondrous and full of energy and light?
Can you feel all that and where it might take you?
