Take a moment to take an intentional breath,
One that you pull in deep and when you exhale let go.
Let any stress or anxiety or any whatever just ride that breath out as you drop into your center and get grounded.
I was recently walking down a street in Tokyo and I saw a business called First Time Human.
I have no idea what the business was for but as soon as I saw it I couldn't get the phrase out of my head because we are all first-time humans.
Even if a person believed in reincarnation this is the first time in this body,
In this mind,
In this spirit.
Inhale into your body,
Exhale and let it go.
Since we are all first time humans what occurred to me is it becomes even more crucial to cut ourselves some slack.
We have never been in this body,
In this spirit,
In this now.
Of course we repeat things and do things again but this now is new.
Just as we are new at this experience of being human sometimes we will nail it and get it right.
Sometimes we know we're just gonna mess it up no matter how hard we try.
Be gentle with yourself.
Be gentle as you live as this first-time human and there's something else important to realize.
Everyone else is a first-time human too.
In fact we were raised by first-time humans who were themselves raised by first-time humans.
We are in relationship with first-time humans.
It doesn't mean we excuse everyone's behavior.
What it can mean though is we see how hard this can be and so that's why it's so important to breathe,
To center,
To trust yourself and then to be oh so gentle.
Whenever we act in ways that leave us feeling raw or vulnerable or full of regret you are a first-time human and you are okay.
You are okay.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Trust yourself,
Breathe and live light and shine.
