Okay,
So just coming into Shavasana,
You can have your legs nice and wide,
With the feet falling out to the side.
The arms are also to the side,
With the palms turned up towards the sky.
And you can tuck the chin in slightly towards the chest,
To lengthen the back of the neck and the spine.
The eyes are closed,
Gently closed,
And allow the breath to return to a natural resting rhythm and depth.
Start to let go of any tension that you're holding,
By feeling the solid surface of the floor beneath you,
And softening the body onto the floor.
So paying particular attention to the parts of you that are in contact with the ground,
So the back of the legs maybe,
The back of the arms,
Shoulders,
Back of the head.
Feel that solid connection,
And then feel the body becoming heavy,
As it sinks down.
Feel supported by the floor.
Solid floor keeping you safe,
Allowing you to really relax as much as you're able.
Noticing the sensation of your clothes against your skin,
The temperature of the room around you,
The air against your hands and face.
Noticing the shape that your body takes up on the mat.
Just expanding your awareness of what it feels like to be in this body.
And then visualising energy coming up from the floor,
From the earth.
This energy is relaxing,
Healing,
Spacious and light.
It comes up through the soles of the feet,
And it softens the soles of the feet,
Filling the feet,
Relaxing the toes,
And the tops of the feet,
Filling the feet up to the ankles.
Feeling both ankles now,
Filled with this relaxing energy.
It fills the legs,
Filling up and softening the calf muscles and the shins,
Relaxing the knees and the backs of both knees.
It fills the thighs,
Into the hips,
Softening and relaxing the left and the right hip,
Until both legs are relaxed.
Both legs relaxed,
Free from tension,
Resting against the floor.
This wave of relaxing energy travels into the pelvis and the abdomen,
Softening the sides of the body,
The back of the body,
Front of the body,
Filling the middle of the body,
Softening each vertebrae,
Softening the ribs as it fills the middle of the chest,
The middle of the back,
All the way up,
Lungs,
Heart,
Upper back,
The whole torso relaxed,
Filled with relaxing energy,
Resting against the floor.
Filling all the way up,
Softening the shoulder blades,
Into the shoulders,
Down the arms,
The upper arms,
To the elbows,
The forearms,
Filling up,
Releasing tension in the wrists,
The palms,
The back of the hands,
Into the fingers,
Into the thumbs,
Fingertips,
Pouring out the fingers into the floor and then filling up the neck,
Softening muscle,
Bone,
Blood,
The whole neck filled with relaxing energy,
Until it reaches the jaw,
Softening the jaw,
The teeth,
The tongue,
The eyes,
The nose,
The forehead,
The ears,
The back of the head,
Filling up all the way to the crown of the head and then out and back into the earth,
Repeating the circuit and then feel wave after wave of relaxing energy,
Dislodging tension,
Tiredness,
Soreness,
Allowing the body to relax on deeper and deeper levels.
And maybe there's still some tension,
But just releasing what you're able to release,
And then closing off that visualisation,
But keeping that sense of relaxation and just rest there for a moment.
Coming back to the sensation of your body against the floor,
The temperature of the air against your skin,
The body's weight and shape,
Notice the sensation of the breath in the nose,
Back of the throat,
And then when you're ready,
With no rush whatsoever,
Slowly beginning to open your eyes.
