You can listen to this story snuggling a favourite cuddly toy or blankie,
Lying down or sitting in your favourite comfy chair,
Whatever you prefer,
So long as you feel super snug and safe.
It might be easier to imagine this magical place with your eyes closed because it's your special special place inside that makes you feel safe and relaxed.
But you do whatever makes you feel safest of all.
If it helps you can gently rest your hands over your eyes for a little while as you just notice how your belly moves when you breathe.
Up and down,
Up and down,
Up and down.
And you can listen to every word I say or just let my words wash through you like magical stardust as your body feels even more relaxed with every breath.
Wonderful.
And maybe you'd like to imagine you're in an amazing boat and this boat will fly or float wherever you want to go and it has a super comfy spot for you to sit or lie down and snuggle in with your favourite cuddly toy.
And as you do you might notice how cuddling your toy softens your body into a lovely special safe feeling.
A feeling that seems to bubble up from deep inside of you.
And you can let this safe special feeling feel as good as can be.
Because this is the secret.
Your gorgeous toy doesn't bring the safe feelings to you.
It shows you the safe feelings already within you.
You make the special feelings inside of you all by yourself.
How clever are you?
Now you might like to bring one of your favourite people real or imagined on this wonderful journey.
Someone that makes you feel safe and special.
And as you invite them on perhaps you notice the safe feeling growing even bigger.
And if you like they can give you a big big hug.
And maybe the boat starts to gently float and rock,
Float and rock upwards.
While you feel completely safe and you float and rock,
Float and rock up up into the sky.
And stardust softly caresses your head and your whole body feels completely relaxed and floppy on the inside.
From the top of your head all the way down to the tip of your toes.
Wonderful you're doing great.
I'm curious what feelings you notice in your body.
Perhaps your heart is feeling full to the brim or a happy feeling is bubbling up all the way from your toes up up up to the top of your head.
Hmm I wonder where else in your body you can feel this safe and special feeling.
Maybe there's a tingling feeling.
Maybe you have a smile on the inside as this feeling grows in your body.
Wonderful.
Now it's time to visit your real or imagined favorite special safe place.
A place you feel completely comfortable just as you are.
I wonder what you see when you arrive and look around at this magical special place.
Are there colors that make you feel extra safe?
You can decorate with these colors if you like.
After all it's your special place.
Are there smells that make you feel safe and cozy?
You can add them too.
And I wonder if there's a gentle warm breeze stroking your face.
Are there special sounds that make you feel extra safe?
Why not add them too?
You might like to notice how your body feels as you look around.
Perhaps you can turn up the volume on this feeling.
You're doing so well.
I wonder if you can make this feeling even bigger.
Wow that's awesome.
Maybe this feeling in your body also has a special safe color and you can fill your body with it and enjoy it.
You can let the feeling and color grow even bigger by dropping into this feeling with every little bit of your concentration.
Become aware of how this feels in your body and remember this feeling.
This is your special safe feeling.
And if you like you can let it overflow into the space around you as if it's floating out of your skin.
I wonder what that might be like for you.
And if you like you can say in your mind this safe feeling is for me.
And feel it all rushing back into you as this feeling drops into your tummy and you let yourself take it all in calling it all home to you.
A special safe color and feeling whoosh into your body and fill you up all over again and maybe even more.
Gently squeeze your tummy like an inside hug to drop the color and feeling into your body even more.
Perhaps you can feel this feeling making a nice home in your tummy.
And you can put your hand on your tummy to help you remember this feeling.
If you like you can take a breath up into the feet,
Up through the legs and into the tummy and breathe out through the top of your head and give your tummy another hug inside.
Take special care of this feeling as you breathe in and out,
In and out.
And if you like you can imagine watching your special safe boat magically shrink down really,
Really,
Really small.
So small that you can tuck it safely into your tummy and the really good thing about that is you know it will always be there whenever you want it.
All you need to do is give your tummy a hug on the inside.
Well done.
And if you like you can give yourself a big hug on the outside too with your real arms because you've done the most amazing job of discovering the magic special safe spot inside.
