I'm Belle and this is the Brain Coach Parent Pause Meditation for nurturing and resetting.
So if you're in a safe and comfortable position,
Gently rub the hands together as if warming them.
And this will help engage the two hemispheres of the brain.
And if you like,
Gently place the heels of the palms onto the eyelids as if giving the eyes and brain a hug.
Thanking them for all that they do and letting them know that they can rest now.
And take three deep breaths in and out through the nose with every out breath like a long gentle sigh,
Releasing any stress,
Any tension,
Letting go of everything you don't need right now.
And whenever you're ready,
Let your hands relax down to wherever is comfortable.
And feel free to keep the eyes closed or soften your gaze down to the floor,
Bringing your awareness to the body.
Perhaps notice how the surface beneath you supports your body.
And with every out breath,
Allow your body to sink deeper into that feeling of support.
And allow your body to settle.
Settle into this moment.
Knowing this time is for you.
This time is for you to turn all the care that you give to others,
To turn it in on yourself.
All that you do for others,
How you care,
How you wait,
How you understand,
How you listen,
How you nurture.
This time for you to nurture you and care for yourself.
And when the mind wanders,
Gently bring it back to wherever we are in the meditation.
And if the thoughts keep drifting towards your child or children,
Feel free to imagine showing them into the most amazing fun room where they can play,
Rest,
And be cared for until you finish.
Because this time is for you to nurture you.
And feel the power of that intention.
And continue breathing in a relaxed way,
Sending signals to the brain and body that you're safe and you can relax completely.
That it's okay right now to simply let go.
And allow all the muscles of the body to soften.
And you might take this time to be patient with yourself as you have been patient with others so many times.
And let yourself feel again what that is like.
And allow yourself to surrender to the natural intelligence of your body that's giving to you all that you give.
Surrender to its compassion for you.
Surrender to its care for you.
And if you like,
Allow this sense of appreciation to well up in your heart.
And appreciation and care for this amazing brain and body of yours.
This amazing body that has brought you so far and survived so much.
Taking a few moments to appreciate the incredible network of systems that make up the work of art that is your body.
Feeling this appreciation and care for yourself into your heart.
And if you like,
Sense it as a nurturing light spreading through your whole body.
And feel it spreading through every cell.
And radiate this nurturing light out through the skin and all around you.
And on the exhale,
Allowing this care to envelop you in a gentle nurturing hug.
Reminding you how precious you are,
So precious.
And breathe.
And receive it all now.
Be present with this nurturing light through your whole body.
And become aware of your entire head and brain in this gentle nurturing light and feeling.
Sense your jaw and neck in this gentle nurturing light and feeling.
Your shoulders,
Arms and hands in this gentle nurturing light and feeling.
All your muscles and sinews rejoicing in this gentle nurturing light and feeling.
And your chest,
Lungs and heart in this gentle nurturing light and feeling.
All your blood vessels soothed in this nurturing light and feeling.
Your spine and back in this nurturing light and feeling.
Your whole nervous system relaxes in this nurturing light and feeling.
And feel it in your abdomen,
This nurturing light and feeling.
To your hips in this nurturing light and feeling.
And to your thighs in this nurturing light and feeling.
To knees,
Calves and shins in this nurturing light and feeling.
To your ankles,
Feet and toes in this nurturing light and feeling.
All the cells of your whole body recharged in this nurturing light and feeling.
Everything bathed in love.
In love with your body.
Loving it into life.
And giving life to love and to love your life.
Remember who you really are.
Know all that you can do.
Become aware of the impact of attending to your body in this way.
Placing your right hand on your left shoulder.
And the left hand on your right shoulder.
Gently squeeze the shoulders in a hug.
And thank your body for being and doing so much.
And if you like,
Gently tap each hand on a shoulder one after the other.
Tap,
Tap,
Tapping.
And continue tapping in whatever rhythm works for you to help set today's practice in your nervous system.
After all,
As a parent,
You're emotionally regulating for two,
If not more.
And bring your awareness back to the room you're in.
Perhaps allow the body to expand,
Stretch,
Wriggling your feet and hands.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
