Hello beautiful souls.
This is Barbara and welcome to an amazing night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series of Bedtime with Barbara,
Written by June B.
I'm with some friends and we are searching for a waterfall.
Let's begin.
So get into your favorite sleeping position,
Making sure you are comfortable.
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles,
And slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down your heart rate,
And let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breath in,
Breath out.
Breath in,
Breath out.
Breath in,
Breath out.
Breath in,
Breath out.
Breath in,
Breath out.
Breath in,
Breath out.
Breath in,
Breath out.
Last time,
Breath in,
Breath out.
Settle in now,
Get comfortable.
Let go of everything that happened today and let's relax together.
Let yourself focus on my voice.
If your mind wanders,
It's okay.
Bring it back to the sound of my voice.
Keep your breathing slow and steady.
Let's go on our journey together.
Today I'm with some friends and we are on a trip along the riverbank,
Up a slight mountain,
Along some beautiful scenery,
And all to find this amazing waterfall.
So join me and my friends and let's see if we can discover this amazing and majestic waterfall together.
So we're here laughing,
Giggling,
And all ready for an adventure to see if we could find this waterfall that everyone has been talking about.
I met my friends earlier and I'm getting the group together to commence our hunt for the waterfall and we begin walking along the side of this stream.
The water is moving at a fast cliff and it is popping and dancing along as we walk by and we even catch the sight of a few fish as we happily pass by.
The sun is shining brightly in the sky with their picture-perfect scene,
One that could be a painting on your wall.
The kind of painting you would look at and imagine the best of days out.
Can you imagine the scene?
The birds are singing in the trees like a lullaby to encourage us on our travels.
It is the perfect temperature and there is a gentle breeze blowing that caresses your face as you look up to see the majestic looking trees above.
The trees are a deep and beautiful shade of green and there are flowers on the ground with small and pretty purple flowers called pink monkey flowers.
They are so little but pack a huge punt in the beauty department.
As we walk along the riverbank the water takes turns in moving tremendously fast or flowing right down to almost a trickle.
We know that just because it looks still on top doesn't mean anything.
The current must be fairly fast underneath.
Now let's get down to business and find out what it is we are truly trying to find.
So I asked the question,
So what is a waterfall?
A waterfall is an area where water flows over a vertical drop or a series of steep drops in the course of a stream or river below.
The movement of water at the top of a waterfall can erode rocks and cause them to be very flat and smooth.
Rushing water and sediment topple over the waterfall eroding the plunge pool at the base.
The crashing flow of the water has created many powerful whirlpools that erode the rock of the pool plunge beneath them.
The resulting erosion at the base of a waterfall can be very dramatic.
The area behind the waterfall is also worn away creating a hollow cave-like structure called a rock shelter.
I'm so excited about seeing this particular waterfall because the word is it is magnificent.
So walking along and the birds are singing so sweetly.
They seem to have a singing gig going on right now and are taking turns to sing the brightest.
I could stay here and listen to these beautiful birds for hours.
We are coming up to a little clearing along the bank and I think we will sit here for a moment and relax.
Take a load off as they say as we have been at it for a while now.
I have taken out my mat and I'm just going to take a few minutes to have a drink a snack and take in all this beauty that is surrounding us.
Okay now it's time to push on and get on to that final leg of this trip and get to the waterfall.
Oh here it is coming up in the distance.
Oh wow what an amazing sight.
Look at the brilliance of it all.
There are people swimming at the bottom pool and having fun and the water is a force to be reckoned with.
It keeps flowing without stopping.
Gushing out from above and hitting the bottom so hard that it is foamy.
There is also a mist rising from all the force of the water and this mist or water vapor has ions in it.
These ions have great health-giving properties and that is one of the most amazing reasons why we should all visit a waterfall or two.
It is healthy and good for you.
Amazing fun fact right?
My friends are all having a whale of a time and I'm going to strip down to my bathing suit and take a dip.
Whippee!
Oh the water is cool and refreshing.
What a delight to be here.
A few more jumps in for me until I get tired.
Now I'm going to follow some of my friends and take my mat out again and relax for a while along the bank.
Ahh.
Lying back and listening to the water come crashing down.
There is something so beautiful and serene about this place.
I feel so at peace now and a little sleepy after that swim.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away have yourself a great night's sleep and look forward to seeing you again for another in this series of Bedtime with Barbara written by Jeanie B.
