The sound of silence.
The pain slips through the letters.
Sadness wrapped around each syllable.
Tears flood through the vowels.
Can you feel it in the way the lines flow into each other?
Does my heartbeat translate?
Does the ache in my bones carry the notes loud enough to seep through?
Can you feel it?
Each sigh like a comma.
Each verb running into the distance.
Each period like a gasp of staccato air,
Short and detached.
Each noun carrying the melody of my soul.
Each adjective a reminder of my past.
The long consonants of reverence are the points of my life.
Paragraph after paragraph,
I bleed my soul onto the page,
Into the air,
In the hopes of expressing myself in these words.
Getting out of me all the time.
Wondering.
Waiting.
Feeling.
Shedding.
Writing my moments in crooked lines.
Erasing and editing.
Beginning again.
Can you hear my voice in the spaces in between?
Can you see my soul?
Can you read between the lines?
Feel the echoes of my heart?
The voice comes out in shallowed breaths,
Filling the lines with the sound of silence.
