In this quiet meditation, we explore the art of open mouth breathing—a simple yet powerful gateway to presence. With each inhale and exhale, you’re invited to soften, to slow, and to surrender the weight of the day. Breath becomes your companion, guiding you gently back to yourself. This practice is an invitation to rest in stillness, expand your energy field, and return to the sacred rhythm of now.

So welcome to this short meditation.

In this moment we are practicing now the art of open mouth breathing.

We all have different patterns when it comes to our breath.

Some of us breathe deeply,

Some of us more shallow,

Some of us more through the mouth,

Some of us more through the nose,

And often it changes depending on our parasympathetic or sympathetic state too,

And it changes in different environments or how much adrenaline is running through our body or what kind of conversation or patterning we might have found ourselves in in everyday life with others.

In these moments we're going to practice the art of open mouth breathing.

The name is on the tin and maybe you've already begun now breathing through your mouth.

The mouth doesn't need to be fully open but our intention is to breathe in and out through the mouth.

Now as you're breathing in and out through the mouth allow any worries about the way you look or the way you're doing this to dissolve into the abyss and just arrive at breathing in and out through your mouth.

And we're doing it slowly.

The exact time it might take for you to breathe in and breathe out is less important than just actively knowing you are breathing slower than usual.

The breath in and the breath out through the mouth can be at a similar length of time.

The breath out can be a little bit longer than the breath in.

As we continue to breathe in and out through the mouth,

Slightly longer than usual and either in roughly equal length of in and out or out slightly longer,

We are naturally opening our energy field.

And as we utilize our breath,

Breathing slower through our mouth,

That openness of our energy field might therefore arise a multitude of experiences.

Maybe a relaxation will happen in certain physical parts of the body.

Maybe a really important or powerful idea pops into your head in this creative inspiration.

Maybe something you've got to get done is just lingering in your field.

Even if all of that exists,

Continue to breathe with your mouth open,

Softening all around your beingness.

We all find ourselves with distractions when we allow ourselves to open more.

So my direction here is just to encourage us to keep coming back to the open breath,

Slowly being here with yourself and with the most anchoring experience of safety that you can fathom.

We call that breath.

We can find a deep peace and nourishment in the safety of the rise and fall of our chest.

The sound of the breath moving in and out of our mouth,

Softening of our neck and shoulders.

If we can find safety in that when our awareness is there,

I promise you worries will continue to drain away faster than you can say hallelujah.

Open mouth breathing is a golden ticket to peace and serenity,

A connection to our parasympathetic nervous system and an arrival into the infinite now.

Nowhere to go,

Nothing to do,

Just a knowingness that your breath is always here as your companion and as your closest companion can anchor you in any moment,

Any situation,

Any condition,

Any environment,

Any interaction,

Any emotion,

Any moment.

You can arrive into now with this gentle and loving open mouth breath,

Absorbing the light of now and breathing out the light of now,

Welcoming you into the rest of your day as you return back from this practice and transition forward.
