Hello and welcome to this yoga nidra practice for the Aquarius new moon.
This new moon invites us to look at the bigger picture of how we can serve humanity.
Aquarius is always a very innovative,
Group-minded,
Community-oriented sign that often puts others' needs before itself.
This is our chance to create an intention,
Set a new beginning around finding our space in the collective and how we can bring the passion of the heart with the intellect of the mind under this fixed air sign to create this harmony in how we are meant to serve our purpose here and how we are meant to serve the greater good of the collective.
So I invite you to find a really nice comfortable position for this yoga nidra practice.
It's often done lying down in shavasana position.
You can bring some pillows or a bolster underneath the knees to support the low back.
Bring a blanket as the body temperature tends to cool down once you get really relaxed and make sure that you have no distractions around you.
Any lights are switched off.
Maybe you bring an eye pillow.
And yoga nidra does mean yogic sleep.
So prepare your body as if you are going to sleep because your body is going to be in a very relaxed state as we move consciously through the different layers of our being and as we consciously rotate through these layers,
We are relaxing them,
Withdrawing from the senses,
Keeping the mind awake,
Aware,
And receptive to receive the words of the practice,
The sankalpa or intention or strong will or desire to embed that in the soul space deep within and to receive the sound frequencies of the bowls.
So once you've found that nice comfortable position,
I invite you to make any last minute movements,
Getting out any wiggles.
Ensure your body is completely relaxed and that nothing in your physical body will be bothering you.
Once you settle in,
Take a nice deep inhale through the nose.
Big exhale,
Sigh it out the mouth.
One more big inhale through the nose.
And exhale to sigh it out the mouth.
Find a nice steady cadence of breath in and out the nose gently.
Feel the body relax into the ground beneath you.
Feel the eyes become even heavier in the sockets.
And we'll start with a rotation of awareness through the body with a tighten and release technique to release any tension within the body and also relax your nervous system.
As I call out each part,
Inhale and squeeze that part tightly.
Then on my cue,
Exhale to fully release and relax.
Start by inhaling,
Clenching your feet and toes.
Now exhale,
Release and uncurl the toes.
Your next inhale,
Tighten the calves and knees,
Squeeze them in.
Exhale,
Completely release.
Inhale,
Squeeze the glutes and thighs.
And exhale,
Release and relax.
Now inhale,
Clenching both of your legs in together.
Exhale,
Fully release.
Let your legs be heavy on the ground.
Inhale,
Clench your core and your back.
Exhale to release.
Inhale,
Squeeze both of your shoulders,
Biceps and triceps.
And exhale,
Fully release the arms.
Inhale,
Clench your forearms into your ribs.
Exhale,
Release.
Inhale,
Squeeze your hands into fists,
Clench them tightly.
And exhale,
Release,
Letting the palms go,
Softening the fingers.
Inhale,
Scrunch up your face,
Including your forehead,
Cheeks,
Jaw,
Ears,
Neck and throat.
Exhale,
Complete release,
Relaxing your face.
Now biggest inhale yet,
Squeeze your whole body in,
Clench everything tightly.
Arms,
Legs,
Fingers,
Toes,
Your face.
Then expansive exhale to release.
Let it all go and melt the entire body into the ground.
In the space deep in your heart,
Embed the following words by repeating three times.
Here begins the practice of yoga nidra.
I will stay awake and receive whatever I need.
Repeat three times.
I see new solutions every day that benefit the greater good.
I unite my mind's intellect with my heart's passion.
To absorb this intention or sankalpa,
Start by tuning into the physical layer of your being.
I'll guide you to cycle your awareness across the 61 vital energy points on your body.
Bring your focus to that specific point to calm the nervous system and settle that energy field.
As I call out each point,
Become aware of it and soften that area into stillness.
Start by becoming aware of the space between the eyebrows,
Your third eye center.
Move awareness to the base of the throat,
Right shoulder,
Right elbow,
Right wrist,
Right thumb,
Right pointer finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
And pinky finger,
Right wrist,
Right elbow,
Right shoulder.
Returning to the base of the throat,
Moving awareness to the left shoulder,
Right finger,
Left elbow,
Left wrist,
Left thumb,
Left pointer finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
And pinky finger,
Left wrist,
Left elbow,
Left shoulder.
Meeting back at the base of the throat,
Become aware of the center of the chest,
Right side chest,
Center of the chest,
Left side chest,
Center of the chest,
Right chest,
Navel,
Pelvis,
Right hip,
Right knee,
Right ankle,
Right big toe,
Right second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Pinky toe,
Right ankle,
Right knee,
Right hip,
Pelvis,
Left hip,
Left knee,
Left ankle,
Left big toe,
Left second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Pinky toe,
Left ankle,
Left knee,
Left hip,
Pelvis,
Navel,
Center of the chest,
Base of the throat,
Third eye center,
The space between your eyebrows.
Becoming aware of the breath,
Notice the rise and fall of each inhale and exhale.
On your next inhale,
Begin to see a sparkling cloud of air at the crown of your head.
As you exhale,
This sparkling cloud descends down your spine and rests at your tailbone at the very base of your spine.
Inhale,
The sparkling cloud floats up the spine,
Back to the crown of the head.
Exhale,
The cloud cascades down your spine,
Returning to the base of the spine.
Inhale,
The cloud drifts up the spine.
Exhale,
The cloud falls down the spine.
Inhale,
See this cloud ascending to the crown of the head.
Exhale,
The cloud descends to the base of the spine.
Continue this motion with your own breath,
Seeing this cloud float up and down the spine on your inhale and exhale.
As this cloud breathes along your spine,
Feel it clearing away any stale energy along the spine.
Notice how this sparkling cloud creates more space within you to expand your vision for the collective.
Dissolving any self-imposed barriers or restrictions your mind has created in the past.
Continue with this cloud breath along the spine for a few more rounds.
On your final inhale,
Send the cloud back to the crown of your head.
As you exhale,
The cloud dissipates into the sky as you return to your natural,
Soft and gentle rhythm of breath.
We'll now experience a series of opposing feelings and sensations.
As I call out each one,
Know that you are safe to experience the feeling or sensation just as it is.
Begin by inviting the sensation of overthinking,
The mind brimming with thoughts.
Now feel yourself be completely free of thought.
The mind is clear.
You only hear the voice of the heart.
Invite the sensation of expansion.
Now invite the sensation of constriction.
Now experience yourself emotionally detached.
Experience yourself emotionally invested.
Feel what it's like to only think about yourself.
Now feel what it's like to consider others.
Experience what it's like to be eccentric and unique.
Now experience what it's like to conform and follow trends.
Invite the feeling of self-assurance.
Invite the feeling of self-doubt.
Feel your heart's passion.
Now feel your mind's intellect.
Experience yourself rooted in tradition.
Now experience yourself venture towards innovative change.
Now picture yourself standing under the night sky in an open field.
You are safely connected to the earth and sky as you outstretch your arms under the stars.
As you gaze up,
You see the new moon in the night sky hidden in plain sight.
Then you see the moon emerge into a waxing crescent and radiate its soft white light onto the earth.
As you stand on the ground in your bare feet,
Feel this renewing light course through the soles of your feet.
This pearly moonlight moves through your heels,
Up your calf,
And across your shins.
Focus your breath to move this lunar energy up your body,
Into your abdomen,
Up to your heart,
And eventually landing in your third eye center.
The moon's light beams from the center of your forehead,
Cleansing the mind from within,
Removing limiting self-perceptions and the restrictions of the ego.
Allowing you to embody the strength of the higher mind's insight with the heart's passion.
Feel this passion in your heart magnetize you to others with the same frequency,
Aligning you with your soul community.
Now ask the moon to show you where you are meant to be in the collective.
Ask it to strengthen your emotion to your intellect,
To guide you to your community and how you can serve humanity as a whole.
Now thank the moon for revealing this path to you.
Take a moment to express gratitude for this special lunar essence,
Creating a fertile ground to plant your seeds of intention.
Then you tell yourself three times,
I see new solutions every day that benefit the greater good.
I unite my mind's intellect with my heart's passion.
Begin to realign your awareness with your breath.
Breathing into the physical borders in the space that you take up.
Breathing along the edges of your skin.
Breathing into the muscles of your body.
Breathing into the bones.
As your breath becomes fuller and deeper,
Begin to move the fingers and toes bit by bit.
Being mindful,
Being gentle.
Eventually finding bigger movement,
Rolling out the ankles,
Rolling out the wrists,
Maybe taking a big stretch overhead.
You can close your practice by turning over to your favorite side in a fetal position,
Keeping the eyes closed or in a soft gaze towards your heart.
Thank yourself for arriving and completing this practice of yoga nidra.
Find or sense the moon above.
Send gratitude to the moon for creating this new cycle,
For hearing your calls for manifestation.
When you're ready to complete your practice,
You can press up into a seat,
Blinking the eyes open,
Bringing the hands to heart center,
Joining all the forces and energy within your body.
Integrating it all with a final deep breath in through the nose and deep breath out through the mouth.
Thank you for joining me in this practice.
I hope you have a beautiful Aquarius new moon,
A beautiful lunar new year,
And the practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
