Hi and welcome to the practice of Ujjayi Pranayam.
The victorious breath.
It's also called the ocean breath because of the hissing sound we make.
When we inhale and exhale this sound is sometimes like the sound of the waves in the distance The technique in this pranayama is to constrict the throat at the back slightly.
It's like narrowing of a wall so that the breath can lengthen and be smooth and steady.
And This breath really helps in grounding and calming the body and the mind.
So we'll begin by finding a steady seat,
Like always.
Noticing any pull away from this moment.
And then gathering all the senses inward.
Notice the rise and fall of the natural breath.
And then we'll tune into the ujjayi technique.
When we inhale and exhale you can maintain a ratio of 1 to 2 or 1 to 1.
5 For example,
If you inhale for 4 You exhale either for six or for eight counts.
Let's begin and do 10 rounds of this together.
Maintaining the ratio and steadiness of the Ujjayi.
Exhale completely.
And then begin to inhale for the count that you've chosen.
Exhale when you're ready.
And then continue for another 10 together.
If you struggle with deconstruction at the back of the throat,
Try to open your mouth and exhale as though you are fogging a glass before cleaning it.
And once you've got that constriction then seal the lips and then continue to breathe in and out of the nose.
And then gently come back to the natural brand.
We are also ocean beings.
There can be a lot of movement on the surface,
Sometimes turbulence,
Rising and falling.
But at any given time,
There is also a deeper point somewhere within.
Which is steady.
Which is Peace.
And that that stillness is always accessible.
The breath is that connection from surface to.
.
.
That inner center.
As you move through your day,
Know that you can come to your breath at any time.
Recenter.
And then go back out again.
I hope you enjoy.
Thank you for practicing with me.
