Poem: One Day The Soul River Asked

The poem - 'One day the soul river asked' from my poetry collection 'Sonchiriya' - talks about what being in the flow is like. When we are not in it, we feel a longing we often don't even understand. Maybe the soul river has the answers too.

One day,

The Seoul River asked,

What is all this longing?

You swim to many ashore,

Only to find you were thriving before,

When you moved with what moved you.

One day,

The Seoul River asked,

What is all this striving?

I see you try so hard to resist the current,

To be anywhere but be present,

Yet your restlessness does not end.

One day,

The Seoul River asked,

What is all this grasping you clench so hard and get the scars?

My child,

Eternity is held in open pines.

Truth does not change in time,

Cannot be confined in space.

Why choose to hold on to a few trinkets then in its place?

One day,

The Seoul River asked,

What is all this doubting?

Know this,

My dear one,

If you trust the flow and if you let it,

It will take you all the way to the source.

That's where the majesty is.

Trust,

Flow,

Allow,

Surrender.

There is nothing to do here,

Nowhere to race,

Except to be who you were meant to be,

Who you already are,

And to swim in grace.
