This visualisation will help you heal your past. You can choose whether your past is going to affect you or not. There is always a choice. Don't let fear stop you, it's your choice. You cannot fully heal your past but the more understanding and awareness of the past will help you to avoid the pitfalls and the fear that will stop you living the life you want. Transform your past with this meditation.

Music Visualisation 3.

Giving up your past.

Find somewhere to lie down or sit comfortably where you won't be disturbed and close your eyes.

Place your feet firmly on the ground.

Take a few deep breaths and let your body and mind relax.

If you notice thoughts popping into your head,

Acknowledge them but don't follow them.

Rest in this space for a few moments.

Music Breathe in and out.

Releasing all of your tensions and thoughts when you breathe out.

Breathe in and out.

You feel safe.

You are willing to go on this journey.

You are willing to let go of your past.

In your mind's eye,

See yourself sitting in a chair and next to you is a rucksack.

You are going to fill it up with your past.

The things you want to let go of right now,

You are willing to let them go.

Your past might include people,

Objects,

Events,

Words,

Thoughts or emotions that are no longer serving you.

It may be an event that has traumatised you in the past but you are willing to let it go as it is not serving any purpose right now.

It is just keeping you stuck and feeling lost.

You are willing to let it go.

Take a few moments to go ahead and fill up your rucksack with whatever it is.

Is it a word,

An object,

A person or a feeling?

Think of anything that can go into that rucksack.

Be safe in the knowledge that you know what needs to go into that rucksack,

Even if you can't express it.

All is well.

Your intention is to put anything in the rucksack that is not serving you right now.

Take a few moments to fill up your rucksack.

Again,

In your mind's eye,

Get up from your chair,

Pull the strings of the rucksack tight and clip the lid firmly shut.

Your past is all safe and secure in the bag.

Nothing will leak.

You pull it over your shoulders and put it onto your back.

You take a few moments to feel how heavy this bag is and what a burden it is to carry around with you all the time.

So now let's begin the journey of releasing your past by going for a walk.

As you start to move off wearing your rucksack you see a door appear.

Open this door and walk through it knowing that you are safe and supported.

It may feel strange and fearful or it may not.

You continue on your journey as you feel that this is the right thing to do.

You are ready and willing to give up your part of your past that are no longer serving you.

As you step through this door you see a beautiful hill in front of you,

Surrounded by fragrant flowers and emerald green grass.

And start your journey by walking up the hill.

On the top of the hill a magnificent tree is waiting for you and you're aware that this is a beautiful place.

You see the beautiful flowers and feel that this is the right place to put down your rucksack.

Finally releasing those parts of your past.

You are ready and willing to let go.

Swing your bag off your shoulders and let it fall down by the tree.

Spend a few moments giving thanks to your past and the lessons you've learnt from it.

Send the people and all that is in your rucksack love and healing and feel grateful that your past has led you here.

You are ready to feel free from the past.

Breathe a sigh of relief and notice how it feels to be without this load on your shoulders.

Shrug your shoulders to see how free they feel.

Take a few moments to notice how much lighter you feel.

With the knowledge that this rucksack is in a beautiful place turn around so that your back is facing the rucksack.

Now begin to walk away.

You might find you can run or you might feel heavy in your steps.

It's all okay.

With every step you take notice how much lighter and happier you feel without the past weighing you down.

You might like to skip,

Dance,

Run or even laugh.

Just enjoy this feeling of freedom for a few moments longer.

Celebrate you and your past.

Celebrate that your past can no longer hold you back.

It has no power.

Take a deep breath in and out.

When you are ready wriggle your toes and fingers and open your eyes.
