Come and rest.
I invite you to let my voice be the path that winds inward,
Guiding you into the hush of your deepest self.
Descending,
Breath by breath,
Into sleep's silken hold.
A blessed unravelling.
The gentle falling into nothingness.
Nothingness.
The space between.
Allow yourself to arrive where your body remembers it can finally land.
Where every cell,
Every bone,
Every breath is cradled and kept.
Nowhere to go other than here,
There and everywhere.
As though you have no form,
Just spirit.
These hours ahead are an offering from the universe.
They belong to rest alone.
A time set apart for pure being,
For nurturing.
Toward the hidden haven where restful tides are gently rising.
Draw in one long breath and let your body unfurl from fingertips to crown.
And as you exhale,
From crown to toes.
Simply be here,
Exactly as you are.
In this unremarkable,
Precious now.
Sink a little deeper,
Trusting the support beneath you,
Knowing you are safe,
That all is well,
Has always been well.
Notice the heaviness settling across your eyes,
How naturally they close.
Like the lotus folding as daylight fades.
Breathe in once more,
Slowly,
Fully.
Then release it all with a long,
Surrendering exhale,
Watching everything dissolve.
Let yourself drift now,
Falling softly to warm.
And again,
Let the sound of my voice be the lantern that leads you inward,
Into your own quiet depths.
Now we rest together in the ancient rhythm of breathing.
Can you hear your own breath?
This constant sound that has sustained you since your very first moment.
No need to change or improve or deepen.
Just observe.
Just allow.
Feel the breath as it finds you,
Cool and gentle.
As it enters through the gateway of your nostrils,
A whisper of air.
Warm and easy.
It flows back out into the world,
Carrying with it all that no longer honors you.
The belly rises softly,
Like the earth breathing.
The belly falls softly,
Returning home.
Like waves arriving on an endless shore.
Breath flows in,
Drawn by an ancient knowledge.
Like waves retreating,
Complete and whole.
Breath flows out,
Asking nothing in return.
Rising and falling and leaving.
So utterly effortless.
Your body breathing itself,
Tending to itself,
While you simply rest here,
Held in this quiet grace.
Each exhale becomes a doorway,
Taking you deeper still.
Deeper into the velvet softness of relaxation.
Deeper into the spacious realm of peace.
Deeper into sleep's gentle.
Breathing in,
You receive serenity.
It fills you like light filling a room.
Breathing out,
You release tension.
It dissolves like mist in morning sun.
Breathing in,
You draw in peace.
Like drawing water from a well.
Breathing out,
Everything that was,
Gently set down.
Breathing in holy permission to simply be.
Breathing out everything else,
All the striving,
All the holding,
All the trying.
Just breathe now.
Just this singular precious moment.
Just peace,
Settling like snow.
The rhythm of breath becomes a lullaby,
Ancient and wordless.
Rocking you gently,
Tenderly towards sleep's waiting arms.
In and out,
Rise and fall.
Soft and easy,
Simple and true.
There is nothing to do but breathe.
Nothing to become.
Nothing to seek out but this rest that is always and already present.
Already holding you.
Already yours.
Let the breath carry you now.
Let it become the vessel that holds you.
The ancient boat that has always known the way.
Become the river itself,
Vast and flowing.
Surrendering to currents older than memory.
Moving through darkness toward the infinite sea.
Dissolving into the great returning to home.
Allow everything to wash over you,
To move through you like water through light.
And let sleep arrive as she does,
Tenderly.
Brushing away the silken entanglements,
The delicate snares of thought.
Leaving only clarity,
Only stillness,
Only rest.
The peaceful silence of the night.
In the softest blanket of breath and deeper and deeper.
My voice drawing you tenderly beneath the surface into the stillness of your inner world.
Back to the quiet heart where deep rest whispers your name.
You are sinking now,
Softly,
Like a leaf settling through still water.
Drifting down through layers of light into the quiet depths below.
Your body grows heavier,
Deliciously heavy.
As though made of warm sand.
As though the earth herself is gently claiming you back.
The weight of your limbs becoming a blessing,
An anchor.
Tethering you to this moment of pure,
Unhurried rest.
Everything softens now.
The edges blur.
Thoughts lose their urgency,
Their insistence.
Becoming whispers and silence.
You are dissolving.
Boundaries melting like snow in spring rain.
No longer sure where your body ends and the darkness begins.
Deeper still into the velvet folds of night.
Into the wordless place,
The placeless place,
Where nothing is required of you.
Your mind grows quiet,
So beautifully quiet,
Like a forest after the last bird has sung.
Like the world holding its breath before dawn.
Sleep moves closer now.
You can feel her nearness,
Her cool hand on your forehead.
Her gentle invitation to let go completely.
The last threads of waking consciousness loosen,
Unravel.
Fall away like petals from a flower and you do not mourn them.
You are floating now.
Suspended in this liminal place.
Neither here nor there,
Simply drifting,
Simply being carried.
Time loses all meaning,
All structure.
There is only this eternal now,
This vast,
Dark ocean of rest.
And you,
Surrendering to its tides.
Your breath slows,
Becomes a distant rhythm.
The tide pulling out,
Pulling you with it.
Into deeper waters,
Into the mystery of slumber.
Nothing disturbs you here.
No thought can reach you,
No worry can find you.
You have slipped beneath the surface into perfect peace.
The darkness is complete now,
Warm and welcoming.
Wrapping around you like the softest blanket.
Like love itself made tangible.
You are letting go,
Truly letting go of everything.
The whole wide world releasing its grip and you releasing yours.
Sleep opens beneath you like an endless meadow and you are falling,
Falling.
But there is no fear,
Only trust,
Only sweetness.
Your body knows this trail,
Has made it a thousand times before and it surrenders now with the wisdom of repetition,
A ritual of homecoming.
Everything fades,
Sound,
Sensation,
Thought.
All of it dissolving into the great silence,
The great stillness,
The great forgetting.
And now,
Now you are held in the deep embrace of night.
Cradled in the arms of rest.
At peace.
Peace.
