Welcome to this practice,
Melting Moments.
This is a time for you to soften,
To surrender,
And to simply be.
You may like to lie down for this practice and in doing so find a warm,
Cozy space.
Of course you may prefer to sit upright and this is fine too.
Allow natural air to flow around you and perhaps you may like the comfort of a gentle light nearby.
Close your eyes softly.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly through your nose.
Allow the breath to find its own rhythm.
Natural,
Easy,
Effortless.
As you breathe,
Let the body gently settle.
Feel yourself releasing down into the earth,
Supported,
Grounded,
Safe.
Let each exhalation be a soft surrender,
A letting go,
A melting into stillness.
Now bring your attention to the very top of your head.
Sense the crown,
Tiny muscles of the scalp,
Imagine them softening,
Melting,
Like butter in the warmth of the sun.
Allow this melting sensation to flow down through your forehead,
Smoothing away any tightness,
Any furrows,
Any strain.
The eyes and the small muscles around them resting in their sockets,
Quiet,
Hushed,
Calm.
Let your cheeks relax,
Your jaw unhinge,
Unclench and allow your tongue to float lazily in your mouth.
The neck softening,
The shoulders dropping away from the ears,
The weight of the world melting,
Dissolving.
Feel the arms heavy,
Warm,
Relaxed,
Hands loose,
Fingers soft.
Bring this melting sensation into your chest and upper back now.
Softening every fiber,
Every muscle.
Down into your belly,
Expanding gently with the inhale,
Softly releasing with the exhale.
The spine lengthens,
Free of effort,
Free of hold.
Hips softening,
Thighs heavy,
Knees melting,
Calves and ankles loosening,
And all the way to the soles of the feet.
Perhaps you feel tingling in your toes,
Tiny currents of energy,
A conversation of sensitivity and freedom.
Your whole body now,
Soft,
Warm,
Fluid,
A body at ease.
Turn your attention once again to your breath.
Notice its rhythm.
Notice how it rises and falls like the wings of an eagle gliding on the wind.
With each inhale,
Breathe in calm,
Peace,
And presence.
With each exhale,
Feel tension melting away,
Flowing out of you like warm honey,
Dripping slowly from a spoon.
If the mind wanders,
Simply guide it back to this melting breath.
Always here,
Always gentle,
Always yours.
Rest with the breath,
Steady,
And soft.
Now imagine above your head a beautiful golden light.
It is warm,
Nurturing,
Like sunlight on a cool morning.
See this light begin to pour down over you,
Liquid sunshine melting into water.
It dissolves any heaviness,
Any worry,
Any burden.
It fills your body with contentment,
Comfort,
And ease.
Feel yourself becoming lighter,
Freer,
More open.
Your whole being like a snowflake melting into a stream,
Natural,
Effortless,
Dissolving into peace.
Surrender.
Now begin to deepen your breath once more.
Feel the energy returning to your body,
Gently,
Lovingly.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Let small movements awaken you,
Perhaps a stretch or a soft smile on your face.
And when you are ready,
Open your eyes.
Carrying with you this softness,
This warmth,
This sense of ease.
Know that these melting moments are always here for you.
Whenever life feels tight,
Heavy,
Or overwhelming,
You can return.
Return to this softness.
Return to this peace.
Remember to relinquish your thoughts,
Disarm your emotions,
Placate your body,
Console your heart,
Mollify your spirit,
And melt into oblivion.
With love,
This is Anne-Marie.
