Namaste and welcome to a quick meditation in which we will connect to the elements and connect to the energy of the cosmos that is all around us at all times.
So we'll be working with the different elements of nature.
So finding a comfortable seat,
Preparing for the act of meditation.
Perhaps you'd like to prop up your sit bones on a cushion or find some support for the knees but just allowing the spine to be tall and free and the eyes to gently close if that feels safe for you today.
Just take a few moments of silence here to connect to the sound of your own breath.
Withdraw the senses from the external environment,
From the room that you're in,
From the day that you're having.
Withdraw the senses from outside and turn them inside.
Taking some gentle breaths,
We begin to connect to the Earth's energy,
Allowing your eyes to close now if you haven't already,
Envision our beautiful planet,
Envision all of the colors of the Earth,
Browns,
The colors of autumn,
The colors of the different seasons,
And feel the energy of the fertile soil of the Earth.
Feel how solid it is,
How supporting.
As you visualize this,
Begin to invite that very same energy through your body.
In your mind's eye,
See the Earth's energy coming up through your feet,
Into your legs.
This might look like the form of light.
Or whatever form this energy takes in your mind,
Just visualize it circulating through your body.
Circulate the Earth's energy through your body as you intend and visualize this,
You might notice a shift.
Notice how you feel.
Notice what you feel or don't feel.
There's any energy you want to let go of,
Let it go back down into the Earth and experience this give and take of Earth energy.
Perhaps linking now to your inhales and exhales,
Inhaling this Earth energy up through your body from the Earth and exhaling anything you don't need.
Send it back down to the Earth for it to be composted,
Transmuted into something else.
Release it now.
Now shift your mind's eye to the element of water,
Knowing that we too are beings of water,
Made up each of ourselves containing water.
You can imagine a calm,
Gentle ocean or a winding river,
And imagine immersing yourself into this body of water,
Allowing it to move around you,
To move through you and cleanse you,
Purify you.
Allow yourself to sink deeper and deeper into this experience and letting this water wash away any tension,
Any unwanted energy,
Anxiety,
Feelings of isolation.
Let them wash away now.
Feel the water moving through all the channels of your body,
All the way down through your feet.
Let yourself enjoy this feeling as you visualize this process of cleansing and immersing yourself in the element of water.
Now moving our attention,
Our focus to the element of air,
Perhaps visualizing the shifting nature of winds,
The windy mountaintop,
Or the wind through a forest that is energizing the trees.
Let this wind,
This air move through your whole body.
Let this wind excite every cell of your body,
All of the channels within you.
Let the air feed your lungs and make you feel as free as the wind,
Immersing yourself into the shifting energetic nature of air,
Feeling your body,
Feeling the lungs as they fill and empty with this element of air.
Now we'll move our focus to the element of fire,
Perhaps envisioning a warm fireplace or a campfire in nature.
Perhaps your mind goes to the sun.
Let the rays of the sun warm your skin and your mind.
Let them energize you and heal your whole body,
All of the inner organs,
The cells,
With every inhale,
Filling yourself with this fire element,
Filling yourself with this warm,
Pure,
Golden energy of the sun.
If your mind wanders,
Simply call it back to these elements.
Now in the element of fire,
Filling yourself with this warm golden light.
And finally,
We'll move to the energy of the cosmos.
This is the highest energy,
The highest vibration from the cosmos,
Perhaps through the crown of the head or through the third eye,
Begin inviting this energy into your being,
This energy of all that is,
Perhaps visualizing yourself looking up into the night sky and seeing the planets and the stars and all of that space.
This is the energy of the cosmos that lives in and around you.
Let this cosmic energy run through your whole body,
Let it run through your electromagnetic field or your aura,
And just notice what it feels like.
Notice how the quality of your breath might have changed since before you began this meditation,
The quality of your being or the quality of your mind.
Can you allow yourself to feel just a little bit more relaxed,
A little bit more blissful as we become aware of these elemental energies around us and within us.
When you're ready,
You can gently begin to open your eyes,
Take a breath,
Drop in and notice how you feel now.
Even if we're not in nature,
We can connect with these elements of nature with our intention and our imagination and receive the benefits of their energies.
