The practice of mindful eating focuses on how we eat,

Not on what we eat.

This guided visualization is very close to a meditation and will walk you through how to become more present each time you connect with food.

As we allow ourselves to focus on each bite of food,

The taste and the texture of food become a type of anchor,

Softly tethering you into the moment.

Each bite can become a doorway to the present moment.

Rather than using food as a means to check out of the present moment of your present realities,

Eating can become a way to check in with the present moment.

Sit up in a comfortable position and rest your hands on your lap.

Loosen your shoulders and your neck and allow yourself to feel comfortable.

Softly close your eyes.

Begin to follow my guidance for your breathing.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Right now,

Your mind can be at peace.

Whatever is still to come is far off in the future.

Anything that has happened in the past,

You can leave in the past.

Right now,

You are just in this moment.

You can grant yourself the luxury of relaxing into the present.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Exhale.

As you continue to breathe,

You can feel an aura of positivity surrounding your body,

Engulfing you into a Zen-like meditation.

Inhale.

And exhale.

All of your thoughts are quiet and peaceful.

Breathing in.

And breathing out.

Right now is a moment for you and you are welcomed to embrace the positive aura surrounding you.

You are relaxed as you focus your mind inward as my words flow through your mind.

My words will help to guide you.

Today,

You will be mindful of your eating.

You are a precious being.

You want to care for your body,

Your mind and your soul.

And your body is capable of sending you the signals and the signs that it needs to guide you when you want to eat.

Today,

You can listen to your body.

You can devote your mind to examining what it is that your body truly needs,

What it is truly hungry for.

Today,

When you want to eat,

You are welcome to evaluate what is your mood.

It is okay to feel hungry and eating is a good thing when you are hungry.

You do not have to be fearful or anxious about eating.

You can be mindful when you choose to eat.

Today,

You are welcome to eat until you are full and you can be mindful when you are full.

Today,

You are strong in your body to be vigilant in examining your hunger and examining your mood.

You feel compassionate towards yourself and others.

And you feel yourself just going with the flow throughout your day.

When you are mindful and compassionate,

Everything feels serene and calm.

Please keep in mind that being mindful and being controlling are not the same things.

You desire to be mindful of your food,

Not controlling and restrictive.

Being mindful is being honest and letting your body respond naturally.

You do not need to control your eating.

What you need to do is listen to your body.

Today may have stressful events,

But you are welcome to resolve stresses without food.

Today,

I invite you to feel powerful and confident.

You are a worthy person,

Worthy of your own compassion and your own care.

You deserve to listen to your body.

And when you are stressed today,

Take a moment to examine how you feel.

Not every day will be perfect,

But life isn't about perfection.

It is about doing your best.

And for today,

You feel focused on being mindful of your food.

Now in a moment,

I'm going to count from one to five.

And when I reach five,

You can wake up,

Open your eyes and feel wide awake.

Prepare to be mindful about what you eat today and every day.
