Hi,
I'm Angie Hilton and welcome to Sweeping Out the Day.
I like to do this towards the end of the day to just clear out anything that's not serving me.
So find yourself a comfortable position and when you're ready you can gently close your eyes.
Let's start by taking a nice deep breath in through the nose.
And letting it out slowly.
And again in through the nose.
And letting it out slowly.
This time let's hold the breath at the top before releasing it.
Breathing in through the nose.
Hold it.
And let it out slowly.
And this time we'll do the same thing but we're going to tense up all our muscles as we hold our breath.
So breathing in.
Hold it and tense up as many muscles as you can.
Feet,
Legs,
Arms,
Torso,
Shoulders,
Face.
And let go slowly.
Just letting all the tension drain out of your body.
I like to imagine a room that's just been swept and you can see all the dust particles in the sunlight drifting down to the ground.
You could try imagining your energies like those dust particles slowly sinking down,
Grounding you into this present moment.
Bringing you back into your body.
Just noticing your breath as it slows down that little bit more.
Now let's imagine in front of you is a big golden shiny door.
And on the other side of that door is your inner world.
We live in two worlds simultaneously.
But we spend most of our time in our outer world during the day.
Our outer world's full of people,
Things,
Objects.
But our inner world is full of our emotions,
Memories,
Feelings,
Encounters.
People we may be carrying.
So let's see ourselves opening the door to this inner world and stepping inside.
Take a moment to have a good look around.
What can you see at first glance?
Are there any people you're carrying in your inner world?
These may be people that you're worried about or someone you had an altercation with or someone you're in love with.
Just see who you're carrying in your inner world.
What's the weather like in your inner world?
Is it calm and warm?
Is it windy and blustery?
Next let's ask ourselves what emotions are we holding in our inner world and see what comes up.
It could be a mix of good and bad feeling,
Joy,
Love,
Anger,
Sadness.
It could be a whole range of emotions.
So just ask yourself what emotions am I carrying right now in this present moment and see what comes up.
Now let's ask ourselves is there anything we're not expressing that we need to express?
Sometimes we can hold back things that we should be saying.
So just ask yourself what do I need to say and who do I need to say it to and see what comes up.
We can often hold things in our inner world that we need to do that we're not getting on top of.
So let's just ask ourselves what is it that I need to do that I'm not doing and see what comes up there.
Now let's take a moment to look around at all the things we've just discovered and notice anything that's not serving us right now.
As you become aware of the things that aren't serving you let's gather them up in a pile in the center of your inner world.
See yourself gathering this pile together.
It may contain people,
Memories,
To-do lists,
Emotions.
Really see yourself picking them up and putting them in the pile.
All the things that aren't serving you in this present moment.
Now you can see this pile of things that have come together.
Some days it's small,
Some days it's big.
But take a good look at what's in there and see how it's not serving you.
Then you turn around and right beside that golden door you walked through is a big golden sparkling broom.
We're going to take this broom and take it to the center of your inner world.
As we breathe in we're going to see the pile of things that aren't serving us and as we exhale we're going to sweep it out.
So let's do that a few times.
Taking the broom,
Seeing the pile,
Breathing in,
Visualizing it all and sweeping out.
Seeing things magically disintegrate.
Take another deep breath in,
Visualize it and sweeping it out.
Taking another breath,
Breathing in and sweeping out.
And again breathing in and sweeping out your inner world getting cleaner and cleaner.
Breathing in,
Seeing the pile getting smaller and sweeping out.
There's hardly anything left now so breathing in and sweeping out.
One last big sweep.
You pop the broom down and you take a good look around.
Your inner world is sparkling clean,
Peaceful and calm.
Feeling so much more relaxed.
You're feeling so much lighter.
You pull up a big cup of tea.
Take a comfy seat in your inner world and take a look around at how clean and sparkly it is.
Enjoying that freedom of being free of things that aren't serving you.
You can do this at the end of every day.
Just clearing things out and making space for joy,
Love and peace.
Take a moment to really enjoy the serenity.
Just breathing deeply and slowly as your body feels so relaxed.
And when you're ready you can take a nice deep breath in through the nose and let it out slowly.
You can start to wriggle your fingers and toes as you bring yourself back into the outer world.
Feeling fresh and clean and clear.
