As you sink your body into bed,

May you find comfort in knowing that you are being supported.

You are being physically supported by the bed and the earth.

Allow yourself to sink your body into the bed as it supports the entirety of your weight.

And as you allow the bed to support you,

May you allow the universe to support you too.

May you lay down your burdens,

Anxieties,

And worries.

May you trust that the universe has and will continue to support you.

May you lay down your burdens to the universe and trust that you are taken care of.

May you find yourself being embraced in the loving arms of the universe.

It is holding you,

Supporting you,

Just as the bed is doing with your body.

May this knowing help you drift into deep and restful sleep.

May deep and restful sleep rejuvenate your mind,

Body,

And spirit.

We live in a society where it's easy to neglect sleep,

To work into the wee hours,

To mindlessly scroll through social media,

To binge watch our favorite TV shows.

It's easy to neglect sleep because without it,

Somehow,

We still manage to function the next day.

But the reality is that we are depleting our bodies of much needed rest and in doing so,

We fail to honor our bodies.

Your body is the one vessel that will carry you through this lifetime.

Honor and cherish it by giving it the rest that it seeks,

The rest that it needs,

And the rest that it wants.

You can rest your body by resting your mind.

You can rest your mind by resting your body.

As you sink deeper into your bed,

Let's quiet your mind.

If thoughts are arising about all the things that you need to do tomorrow,

Or all the things that you didn't complete today,

It is okay.

These are merely thoughts.

There's no need to follow your thoughts.

Anchor yourself back in the present moment by coming back to your body and your breath.

Inhale the intention,

I am resting my body.

Exhale the intention,

I am resting my mind.

Again,

Inhale the intention,

I am resting my body.

Exhale the intention,

I am resting my mind.

You can breathe for a few moments at your own pace.

Does your mind feel calmer?

Perhaps the volume of your thoughts has gone down a notch.

Maybe you found yourself caught up in your thoughts.

That's okay too.

That's what I'm here for,

Sweet child.

I'm here to remind you to come back to the here and now.

Be present with yourself.

Be present with your breath.

Be present with your body.

Again,

Feel your body against the bed.

Feel the softness of the blankets against your skin.

Maybe it's hot where you are.

If so,

Feel the heat of the air against your skin.

Now,

Bring your attention to your hands.

What do you notice?

Maybe you don't notice anything at first.

Give it a moment.

What are your hands resting on?

Do you feel them against the sheet of your bed?

And if you pay closer attention to your hands,

Do you notice any sensations?

Maybe there's a slight sensation.

Maybe they feel tingly.

Or maybe they feel warm.

Or maybe they feel cold.

Maybe you feel these sensations across your palms.

Observe these sensations without judgment.

Have you ever noticed them before?

So much is happening within our bodies that we don't seem to notice.

This is a moment for you to be with your body,

To notice its inner workings,

To feel,

And be with all the sensations that are there.

Be present with your body as it drifts off to sleep.

Allow yourself to sink your body into the bed as it supports the entirety of your weight.

And as you're allowing the bed to support you,

May you allow the universe to support you,

Too.

May you lay down your burdens,

Anxieties,

And worries,

And trust that the universe has and will continue to support you.

May you lay down your burdens to the universe and trust that you will be taken care of.

May you find yourself being embraced in the loving arms of the universe that is holding you,

Supporting you,

Just as the bed is doing with your body.

May this knowing help you drift into deep and restful sleep.

May deep and restful sleep rejuvenate your mind,

Body,

And spirit.
