Hello friend,
Welcome to this morning's meditation for self-love and self-parenting.
This is a meditation that I've been practicing for the last year as I've been learning to mother myself.
And what this means is to simply carve out the time to listen to your emotional,
Physical and even spiritual needs,
Acknowledge your feelings and provide and nourish yourself like a loving parent would do.
So grab a pen and paper for writing notes after meditation and let's begin by sitting in a comfortable position.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and out.
You have arrived.
Notice how your body feels,
Relax your mind,
Relax your lips,
Your shoulders,
Your hips,
Becoming calmer and deeper as you breathe.
Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
Thank you for dedicating time to take care of yourself today.
Thank you for showing up,
For slowing down,
For listening to the part of you that longs to be heard,
Seen and felt.
How do you feel today?
Maybe you're feeling refreshed after a good night of sleep.
Maybe your body feels tired or is yet awakening slowly in between dreams,
In between here and there.
Maybe you feel your mind active with what you need to do today or a specific situation from the past or someone.
I'll give you a few moments to just notice without the need to change how your body feels,
The thoughts that are passing through and what emotions are currently present with you right now.
Now let's listen to your needs.
How would your body like to be treated today?
Maybe your body is asking to be moved,
Gently stretched,
Maybe nurtured with fresh foods and clean water.
Or maybe you feel like you need extra time today to rest and would like to go to bed earlier.
Ask your body what do you need today?
What about your heart and soul?
How would they like to be treated?
Maybe you would like to begin by just accepting how you feel today.
To forgive yourself for demanding so much of yourself.
As Buddha famously said,
You,
Yourself,
As much as anybody in the entire universe,
Deserve your love and affection.
Maybe you would like to do something today that brings you joy.
Read a book,
Even if it's for 10 minutes,
Or go for a walk,
Or call a loved one.
What is it for you?
Now I would like you to visualize yourself providing with what you need today.
What choices can you make after this meditation to love yourself?
If it helps,
Imagine going through the day.
Now we are going to move to gratitude.
Because are you grateful for yourself today?
Maybe you are grateful for yourself for creating time and space for this meditation.
Maybe it was something you said or did.
Maybe you are grateful for yourself for opening up your heart again.
Maybe you are grateful for the miracle of your body supporting you no matter what.
I'm going to give you a moment to reflect on that.
If you're struggling with finding reasons to be grateful for,
Know that gratitude is a practice.
The more you do it,
The easier it will become for you.
So don't worry if it doesn't flow naturally for you at this moment.
Trust that eventually it will as you practice this meditation.
And slowly you begin to return to the space you are right now.
Move your fingers or your toes.
Take a breath in,
The deepest of the day and release.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
You are now recharged,
Feeling better than before.
Write down the insights received during this meditation and enjoy your day.
Beautiful things are waiting for you.
And remember to be gentle with yourself,
To put action into your visions and celebrate all that you are.
It's Anujumma here and thank you for meditating with me.
I will see you tomorrow.
