Good evening and welcome to this sleeping meditation on gratitude.
Studies have shown that when we experience gratitude,
Our body is incapable of experiencing any other emotions.
Normally,
We experience a range of emotions,
But when we tune into gratitude,
The power is so magnificent,
There is only room for one.
Let's start by settling in to a comfortable position.
You can rest your head on a pillow,
Bring a pillow below your knees for extra support,
And gently closing your eyes,
Becoming aware of the rhythm and pace of your breath.
Let's balance our nervous system and take a few deep breaths.
With your next three breaths,
Can you make your exhales longer and slower every time?
Now allow your breath to find its comfortable pace,
Rhythm,
Allow yourself to be breathed more than putting in an effort to breathe,
And gently inviting in your intention for this practice,
A felt sense of gratitude for your whole day,
Your whole life,
This miracle that you and I are alive in this moment of time,
On this planet,
That we are able to speak this language,
To listen and to speak,
That your heart is beating and every single second your body is keeping you alive,
Allowing any other things,
People or experiences that you are grateful for to flow into your heart,
To arise in this moment.
With your next 10 breaths,
Breathing in this sense of appreciation and as you exhale,
Releasing any tension and relaxing even more deeply,
And when you lose count of your breaths,
Simply start again,
Feeling how your nervous system is gently being soothed,
We need connection,
Love,
To enter a deep state of relaxation in the body and mind,
Notice the tranquility in your body right now,
A soft smile on your face,
Every muscle in your body to unwind,
To unfold,
Like a knot,
Just being gently untied,
Releasing tension from the body,
With every exhalation,
A new chance to let go even more.
Notice the air gently stroking your nostrils,
As you are breathing in,
Observing the breath,
Leading its own way,
And you are passively receiving it,
Receiving the breath and letting it go,
Noticing the difference in temperature between your inhales and your exhales,
Maintaining a soft,
Gentle smile on your face,
This gentleness to spread into every cell in your body,
Like a blanket that's being spread all over your body,
Wrapped in pure love,
Softness,
Stillness,
As your eyes are closed,
Your mind unwinding,
And your breath slowing down,
Tuning in more into your senses,
Your felt sense,
Feeling the comfort of your bed,
Being cradled like a child in the womb of its mother,
Completely safe,
At peace,
With nothing else to do right now,
And nowhere else to go,
Feeling a sense of gratitude for your body because it knows exactly how to access deep,
Deep sleep for you right now,
Allowing yourself to drift off deeper and deeper,
Further into the realm of dreams and infinite possibilities.
Have a beautiful night.
