Welcome to Minded Soul Podcast.
I'm Gabby and this is a podcast dedicated to spiritual health.
In this first episode,
I'm going to talk a little bit about how the podcast idea and its title came about.
When I read about this term spiritual health right here in SciTimer,
I thought it was a great term because it has everything to do with what I believe and keep all the knowledge I find into this category.
And we just put aside the word mental health a little bit,
Just take it away from us a little bit,
Because every time we'd say the word mental health,
It's like somebody sick,
You know,
If you somebody that if you're a person that doesn't know much about the issue doesn't know much about what is behind this word mental health,
It might sound like a disease like you're sick,
Right?
So that's why I love spiritual health because it's just like it turns around everything that you want to talk about your emotions,
Your feelings and stuff like that.
And not related to something to a sickness or your mind is sick,
You know,
So it just turns everything around.
So I read also here in SciTimer that there's a study done by the National University of Australia that actually defines spiritual health as not referring to any particular religion or spiritual practice,
Or any ideology,
But rather than human need for meaning,
Purpose,
In connection to something greater than ourselves.
And that's what it is.
That's all about,
Right?
So spiritual health,
It's an even including your mental health,
Whatever,
Meaning you want to give it to it.
It's really about connection,
Like you want to connect to something greater than yourself.
You want a purpose,
You want to wake up every day in the morning.
You don't just want to wake up,
Brush your teeth,
Wash your face,
You know,
Get dressed,
Go to work,
And then do whatever you have to do at work,
Then come back even if you love your work,
Even if you love what you do,
Right?
And then you come back,
You have your stuff to do,
You have your family,
You have children or you don't have,
You have a dog,
You have a cat or whatever you have.
You doing this every day.
But I mean,
At the end of the day,
When you go,
Go to sleep,
And again,
You do whatever you do,
You meditate,
Or you read a book,
Or you just actually pass out on the head,
You want a purpose.
Like,
Why am I doing this?
Why do I have to wake up every day?
And then why do we go to sleep every day?
Right?
Why do I do the stuff I do every day?
Some people don't really care about it to choose an automatic pilot,
Like I was a couple months ago,
Like for many years,
And until you actually wake up,
And then everything in your life transformed into something meaningful to you.
And and that's what this podcast is about.
Right?
And I just want to let you know that I'm not an expert.
I'm not a therapist.
I'm not a psychiatrist.
I'm not a doctor.
I'm just an ordinary person doing whatever I can to really understand and find a purpose in my life.
And I have found many,
Many tools and resources that has been really impacting my life constantly,
And has made big changes internally and externally.
And even how I see the world right now and how I see my life,
And I really hope that you can enjoy what I have to share.
Again,
It's just like being a simple person in this constant pursuit of self knowledge and self development.
Right?
And I just want to share the contents that I think might benefit you in some way,
As it has benefited me,
Myself,
In many ways.
So I will share highlights from books,
Relevant articles written by philosophers,
Psychiatrists,
Psychologists,
Spiritual guides,
People that actually write about this,
You know,
This stuff.
And believe me,
There's so much content out there,
Right,
That they actually are overwhelming,
Right?
And,
And it's hard to find somebody that when they talk about mental health,
Or spiritual health,
Or,
You know,
Healing,
Emotional healing,
Stuff like that,
You have to have a connection with that person too,
Right?
Because I've done therapy and trust me,
I didn't find any connection at all.
And don't get me wrong,
I think,
You know,
They're amazing,
Right?
Like,
I mean,
If they work for you,
I'm the kind of person that when I want to talk about my feelings,
I want to have a connection with that person,
Right?
I want her to actually understand what actually I want to talk about.
And if it's somebody I don't know,
You know,
The they talk about too much specific things that they make sense.
Scientific,
You know,
Proven,
I get it,
It makes sense.
But to me,
I need more than that I need to connect that therapy with something bigger.
And sometimes therapists don't,
Don't give me that,
You know,
So,
But anyways,
Nothing I'm nothing against them.
Like,
I mean,
You know,
Honestly,
I do once in a while,
And it's just to get a different insight,
Right?
That's what I do.
That's what I do.
I just don't rely my,
My healing,
My spiritual healing only on therapy,
Right?
And I personally,
I think you shouldn't,
Because you need to get more insights,
You need to get more opinions about it.
And then when you,
When you mix with things that you believe,
And you take away where you don't believe or doesn't work for you,
Then it makes all sense.
It's it's a it's a group of things,
You know,
A group of wisdom and beliefs and stuff that you make sense to you,
Right?
So but anyway,
It has many books that I have been reading right now.
And I want to share with you a couple of them has helped me immensely.
And sharing out,
Sharing them out with other people,
I think it's just beneficial,
Because that's how I started because people will share with me,
Hey,
You gotta read this book,
Hey,
You gotta watch this guy.
He has a,
You know,
Channel,
YouTube,
Watch this guy,
Or,
You know,
So that's what's helped me.
And that's why I want to do the same.
So I must say,
And I guess he has been with some people to like your journey in the pursuit of true self healing,
Or self knowledge,
Self awareness,
Whatever you call,
It doesn't happen overnight,
Right?
There's always something really bad,
You must be like,
You know,
Drained out,
Overwhelmed,
Stressed,
Or you must be going through so much pain because of a loss,
Or because,
You know,
You're just unhappy with your life right now.
You know,
And that's okay,
You know,
That happens,
Right?
So to me,
It came really strong,
And like a,
Like a sudden storm,
Right?
Which I call,
You know,
As a wake up call,
It was really a wake up call.
And a lot of people have that,
Right?
So I felt trapped by my fears,
Like,
Everything seemed dark,
Hopeless.
But now I realize none of this,
Or none of that,
This,
What I went through was a punishment.
But actually an invitation to grow,
To become stronger,
And to begin to trust myself in the universe and to trust my God of understanding at a deeper level.
And that's amazing.
Because when you start realizing that,
Hey,
I don't actually believe in God,
But this is what I believe.
And this is what worked for me.
So or I do believe in God,
And this is how I see it.
And that's how I see the universe,
Whatever your religion is,
It doesn't matter.
It does not matter.
You gotta have to connect with something,
Either your God of understanding,
Or the universe,
Or whatever you believe,
Because your life has to make sense.
You have to have a meaning,
A purpose every day.
And it doesn't mean that your life is going to be perfect every day,
Or tomorrow is going to be a sunny day.
Happy,
Happy,
Happy.
No,
We're not like that.
Right?
We're not like that.
You have to find ways of coming back.
You know,
When you have those moments to come back to who you really are,
And not get distracted,
Not get a shortcut,
Right?
You just got to stay focused,
Keep on your track,
You know,
And always stick to who you are.
Right?
And then it's not easy.
It's not easy at all.
Right?
So then I start reading a couple of books.
And one of the books that I read that fell on my hand,
Just like,
Hey,
This is your gift.
It was a book called The Miracle of Love,
Reflections of the Mind of Christ.
This book is such an awakening book.
Like,
I will talk about it later in several episodes,
Because there's a lot of parts of it that I want to share,
Because it truly touched my soul.
And will touch yours too.
I'm sure I'm positive.
So this is Dr.
Paul Ferrini.
He's amazing.
He's,
He's written over 21 books,
Like he's worldwide famous.
He does fantastic work on like what he writes about,
Right?
It's a practice of forgiveness,
Overcoming fears.
He blends radical Christianity with other traditions of wisdom,
In a way that transcends self-help and rescues the true meaning of spiritual healing.
So what I mean by that is that when you read his books,
Right?
It's just like you're reading,
It's so easy to understand.
It makes so much sense.
And again,
There's nothing to do with the religion.
There's nothing to do with what you believe.
It's just what you are as a human being,
Right?
What you need as a human being,
Right?
It doesn't matter who you believe.
But you're human.
And there's needs that you know,
You just like everybody else,
Right?
So then,
Again,
As I mentioned,
I will talk about this book.
This is,
This book is amazing is,
Is,
Is just,
It's written in the first person.
And it's,
It's like Jesus talking to you.
So it's like,
It's,
It's F is as if Jesus has written the book and to you,
And he talks to you.
So it's,
It's amazing.
Anyways,
And then I started to read a couple other books of his.
And the second one that I'm still reading and but it's,
It's just another transforming book to me.
It's called Answering the Call of the Soul,
How Suffering Transformed Our Consciences and Our Experience of the World.
Such a manual for healing.
Every page reviews a step for love and compassion.
It's a book with miracle lessons,
Like I've been fascinating about this book.
And I'm in the middle of it,
But I can share a few,
The first pages and the first chapters with you in the next episodes because it is amazing.
It's really transforming.
And the book also,
I mean,
It really talks about,
About pain,
Suffering,
Right,
And how you overcome them.
So you know,
He mentions like pain is not a punishment,
Like,
You know,
How when you're suffering,
The difference actually from pain,
Suffering.
And actually the pain is not a punishment.
It's,
It's a wake up call for our soul.
Wake up call for our soul.
I love this sentence,
Wake up call for our soul.
It's a doorway to transformation.
He describes how we feel fear,
Shame,
And other forms of physical and psychological pain,
But some of our suffering is created by ourselves and it arises from past wounds,
False beliefs and patterns of self betrayal that we can recognize.
We can understand and we can heal.
Amazing,
Right?
And as we heal,
We become more gentle and loving.
We stop projecting our pain and attacking others because that's what people do.
That's what we do.
We always blaming everybody for our failures,
For our anger,
For,
You know,
When we stress,
We always blaming everybody,
Like we blame everybody else except you.
So you're not responsible for anything that happened in your life,
Right?
Mm hmm.
So when you start changing that mindset,
Hey,
Be responsible for your,
For your mistakes,
Be responsible for your suffering.
We not talking about losses,
Right,
Because this is something you can't control,
But you can't control your suffering.
Right?
That's different.
That's different.
So so when we stop rejecting our pain and attacking others,
We begin to feel compassion for the suffering of others.
Compassion so hard,
Right?
Our shame is released.
Our acute is forgiven.
Innocence is reborn in our heart.
Amazing book,
So I will share more about that later on.
So welcome again to Mind and Soul podcast.
Take a deep breath,
Get cozy,
And open your mind to greater insights and self development.
My intention here is to share knowledge.
And I hope you'll be inspired,
Encouraged,
And motivated to change what what is no longer working in your life.
I know it's a long process,
And there is resistance,
But it's liberating.
Much love to you.
