Alan Watts once said,
The easiest way to get into the meditative state is to listen.
So let's try that.
Take a moment to notice the furthest sounds that you can hear.
It could be a bird,
The wind,
A car.
Whatever it is,
Just listen.
Now allow your attention to travel to the closest sound you can hear.
Maybe it's the movement of your clothes or the sound of your own breath.
And now allow every sound around you to float through your experience.
The furthest sound.
The closest sound.
And every sound in between.
Let them all move through your awareness without judging,
Just listening.
And then release for listening.
Maybe this is all meditation is.
Not going somewhere else.
Just finally noticing exactly where you are.
