Learning To Accept What’s Normal | 15 Oct 2023
by Ajahn Anan
Time passes by very quickly, not just the days and nights but our lives pass by as well. We have to learn to accept what is normal. We train our mindfulness to be continuous. To have mindfulness we need to have morality and concentration. So we need to practice every day: walking meditation, sitting meditation, chanting, and mental cultivation, so that the mind sees what is normal. Chanting is not just for memorizing the words. When we chant we should contemplate deeply the words we are saying, until the mind is still, peaceful, and sees arising and cessation clearly. That is seeing the Dhamma, really seeing with wisdom. Sometimes the mind wonders—is this really all there is to the teachings of Lord Buddha? But, are we able to accomplish it? When death approaches, can we accept it?
