When we are faced with situations,
Past or present,
That feel insurmountable,
Or when the stress of everyday life feels all-consuming,
It's always a good idea to take a step back,
To pause and gain a new perspective.
There is a saying that you can't read the label from inside the bottle.
These are the moments when finding a new vantage point can feel challenging,
But be deeply beneficial.
This meditation is meant to help you find that new perspective,
To shift the way you see what is affecting you,
And to ultimately choose to perceive it differently.
When we respond instead of react,
We harness our inner wisdom,
And in doing so,
We change the way we see things,
So the things we see can begin to change.
Thank you for being here.
I am Adriene,
And I will be your meditation guide.
Let's begin.
Find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down.
Allow your body to settle into the surface beneath you.
Now,
I would like you to take a deep breath in through your nose,
Hold it at the top,
Then slowly exhale through your mouth,
As if you're blowing through a straw.
Repeat this a few times until you feel your body settling down.
Returning your breath to a natural rhythm,
Feel yourself softening,
Sinking deeper into the surface that holds you.
Allow your shoulders to drop,
Your jaw to unclench,
Your thoughts to slow down.
I would like you to imagine roots extending gently from the base of your spine down into the earth,
Anchoring you in calm stability.
You are supported,
You are safe to explore.
Now bring to mind something that feels stressful or consuming,
Perhaps it is a current situation or a past issue that's been weighing on you,
Asking for your attention or even running like a program in the back of your mind.
Take some time to be curious and notice what arises without judgment.
What thoughts,
Emotions or sensations in your body emerge as you explore?
Remember there's no need to analyze or fix anything.
Simply witness what is here,
As if observing clouds in the sky as they form,
Change shape and float on by.
Acknowledge softly to yourself,
This is what is here.
Now take a slow deep breath in and as you exhale set the intention to give yourself grace and love,
Opening your heart to allow some space for clarity.
Taking this one step further,
I would like you to imagine that you are viewing whatever is troubling you from a distance,
As if you're watching a movie.
Picture yourself rising above the scene to view it from a higher vantage point.
Notice how the scene looks different when you're not standing in the middle of it.
Now sit with these questions.
What might I not be seeing?
What part of this can I truly influence or change and what part is beyond my control?
Is there another way to interpret this?
Could this experience be guiding me towards something greater?
How might this experience serve my highest good?
Allow any insights to surface naturally,
Without force.
Trust your inner knowing,
You are simply opening to possibility,
To a broader,
Wiser view.
Now,
Above your head,
Envision a warm golden light.
This light offers a higher understanding.
As it gently pours down through the crown of your head,
Feel it washing through you,
Softening rigid thoughts,
Dissolving old patterns and illuminating new ways of seeing.
This light moves through your mind,
Your heart,
Your entire being,
Clearing space for peace and understanding.
It unburdens you from what was never truly yours to carry.
With every breath,
You feel lighter,
More centered,
More connected to your inner wisdom.
Take a few moments to feel immersed in this light.
You might even whisper to yourself,
I trust the wisdom within me.
Rest in this clarity,
Feeling spacious,
Steady and at peace.
Knowing in your heart what is within your control,
Your perspective,
Your response to what is.
The more you soften and surrender,
The freer you are.
As you prepare to return to your day,
Carry this awareness with you.
When you respond instead of react,
You change not only your perspective,
But the entire energy surrounding the situation.
Take one last deep breath in and release it fully.
Begin to bring gentle movement back to your fingers and toes.
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Trust that you can return to this place of perspective,
This pause of wisdom,
Anytime you need.
Thank you for spending time with me today.
Namaste.
