We're going to spend a couple of minutes checking in and tuning in with the body.
And before we begin I want to be really clear that we're not going to look at the body as an it.
We're not going to look at the body as totally separate from us.
We're going to do this understanding ourselves as an embodied being.
Understanding that we are our body.
So before we jump in here I invite you to take a few nice deep breaths and just see how that feels.
See if that feels a little strange to hear me say.
Notice if it feels refreshing.
If it feels vulnerable or threatening in some way.
And just be curious.
Noticing,
Okay do I feel connected to my body?
Do I prefer viewing my body as an it?
Do I feel at home in my body and think of my body as me?
And continuing those nice deep breaths wherever you are.
Just noticing what's coming up.
Placing one hand over your heart,
One hand over your gut.
Slowly starting to tune in.
Maybe you first tune in to the cadence of your breath.
Maybe you tune in with your heartbeat.
Maybe you tune in with movement in your gut or tension that you're holding.
Maybe there's some emotion that's stored or lingering.
Whatever you're starting to notice,
You can just slowly and gently see what it's like to ask your body to tell you more about it.
This is kind of similar to parts work where we might connect with a part and step into dialogue with that part to try to understand more.
Knowing that those parts of us are us.
Similar to how stepping into dialogue with our body,
We recognize that our body is also us.
It's a little bit of a mind-bending thing to step into,
But as much as it feels accessible,
Holding intention that we are embodied and asking our bodies to help us understand what's happening inside.
As you continue breathing,
You can just notice what's coming up.
If you're receiving no feedback,
I encourage you to simply notice that.
If you sense disconnect or numbness,
Notice that without judgment.
Maybe be curious to see if it's really hard not to be judgmental or critical of that.
Or maybe instead of silence,
There's so much noise,
So much feedback that it's overwhelming,
And you'd prefer to actually shut it all down and disconnect.
If that's where you are,
I invite you to be curious about what's coming up and the reactions to that overwhelm.
The reactions to what might feel like a lot of noise.
Wherever you are,
You can see what it might be like to let your body know that you want to tune in.
You want to hear and see whatever your body is wanting to communicate to you.
Maybe see if there's a way to almost negotiate with all the gentleness and kindness in the world.
Collaborate together of how might we do this in a way where I can really hear you and see you.
You might even envision yourself sitting down at a table talking to your body.
You might envision your body as your body looks right now.
You might envision your body as a character or a version of yourself,
An animal,
Any other symbol or shape that for you represents your body.
Imagining sitting down with your body,
Just being curious and maybe even a little playful of what would a conversation like this look like?
How would that play out?
What does your body want and need you to know right now?
What might be a bridge that could help bring connection,
A peaceful connection with your body right now?
If you'd like more time to see how that conversation plays out,
You can press pause.
Otherwise,
I invite you to just continue those nice deep breaths,
Noticing what's come up and thinking about how you might want to respond to that.
How does that shape your view of your body and the connection that you might want to cultivate there?
And before we close,
I invite you to think about where you'll go from here.
This might be immediately after the track stops or maybe later in your day or later in your week.
How might you come back to this conversation that you started?
We're gonna pause here for a minute and really think about this,
Even letting the mind be curious to envision with some mental imagery what that might look like.
Maybe that would look like going on a walk and just being curious to think about and let that conversation play out inside.
Maybe it would be journaling or drawing,
Even actually writing out or drawing out the scene of that conversation.
Maybe it would be bringing that scene,
Bringing that conversation to a trusted and safe friend or therapist.
Or maybe it would even be setting up two chairs next to each other and taking turns sitting in each of those chairs,
Actually playing out in an embodied way that conversation that you saw start today.
So with a couple more nice deep breaths,
Just thinking about how might I want to come back to this?
Letting yourself really capture a mental image of what that could look like,
Setting an intention,
Even thinking about a time later today or later in your week where you might be able to do that.
If you'd like more time to think about that,
You can press pause.
Otherwise we're going to close with three nice deep cleansing breaths.
You can keep one hand over your heart and one hand over your gut if you'd like,
Or if there's any other way you'd like to posture your body and be connected to your body,
You can shift around right now to explore that.
Maybe you'd like to wrap your arms around your body.
Maybe you'd like to hold yourself curled up into a ball.
Maybe you'd like to place the palms of your hands on your legs,
On your feet,
On your back,
On your neck,
Maybe even on the sides of your face.
Really pressing into that connection with your body and taking a nice deep breath,
Inhaling through the nose,
Exhaling through the mouth.
Two more just like that,
Inhaling through the nose,
Exhaling through the mouth.
Last one.
Thank you so much for joining me in this audio together.
