A Course in Miracles Lesson 289 The past is over.
It can touch me not.
Until the past is over,
In my mind,
The real world must escape my sight,
For I am really looking nowhere.
I am really seeing what is not there.
How can I then perceive the world that forgiveness offers?
The world that forgiveness offers is the world the past was made to hide,
For this is the only world that can be looked on now.
The world that forgiveness offers has no past,
For what can be forgiven but the past?
If the past is forgiven,
The past is gone.
Father,
Let me not look upon a past that is not there.
Father,
You have offered me your own replacement for the past.
In a present world,
The past is left untouched,
Free of sin.
In a present world is the end of guilt.
Father,
Here am I made ready for your final step.
Father,
Shall I demand that you wait longer for your child to find the loveliness that you planned to be the end of all dreams and all pain?

It can touch me not.
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.
