This is a contemplation,

A process for gaining clarity on matters,

Choices and decisions that face you.

Before starting you might like to gather paper and pen to write notes and any reference materials you might need.

Probably also note at this time that you may need other input or information before any specific decisions can be made.

You may also like to have the device you are listening on brought close enough to pause after each question or reflection time.

Or you may simply prefer to go with the flow of the contemplation timing.

The aim of this process is to be open to whatever is present,

To whatever presents itself to you,

Being open minded to your own wisdom and your own insights.

Not pushing or directive in your thinking but just asking open questions and allowing the time and space to access your inner being,

The inside sense that knows things,

To respond.

So finding a quiet spot,

Taking a moment to bring to mind the situation it would be good to get some clarity on or make a decision about.

Again trying not to push your thinking and point it but rather just opening your mind and letting whatever it is arise.

It may be something about your health or your general wellbeing,

It may be the need to clarify certain aspects of your life or it may be some clarity about what to do in a relational or workplace situation.

So when you are ready,

The situation held gently in front of mind.

Direct your awareness,

Your attention to the actual felt experience of this matter you are seeking clarity for.

Specifically how does it feel in the body right now?

What sensations are present in your body?

Is there anywhere else?

And what about the mind?

Is there any anxiety,

Pressure or do you feel open and curious?

Whatever you can discern in the body and the mind as you hold this matter gently in your consciousness we are going to take a moment to speak the matter out.

Naming can help clarify and it can release some of the tensions that may sit around it whether you feel them or not.

So reflecting again on what it is that you want,

Clearly speak it out to yourself.

What is it that you want to clarify,

Get guidance on or know?

As you hold the phrase in your mind,

What does your inner wisdom have to say?

What further thoughts and feelings arise?

What insights do you have about it?

When something comes to you,

Write it down.

What is it that you want?

What is it that you want?

What is it that you want?

As you reflect,

What else do you perceive?

What other knowing or understandings arise from it?

And maybe now asking yourself,

What can I do about this situation?

What does it need?

And what else?

What else do I need to take into account?

What is it that you want?

What is it that you want?

What is it that you want?

If your area of clarity or decision affects others around you,

Be aware that you may be tangled with what they want which can cloud your own thinking about what you want.

So let's just reflect on that for a moment.

Just And what might be the consequences if you move forward with this?

You might want to write some consequences down.

And having looked at the effects on others around you,

Or consequences,

It's a good time now to gently restate your own thoughts,

Keeping calm,

The mind open and spacious,

Soft.

And as you do so,

Take a time to reflect on your own values,

What's important to you,

And perhaps writing those down too.

And that is your decision to adopt your own values.

So always sit back and rest at your own very self-worth.

Is this clarity or this decision that you may make in line with what's important to you,

To your values?

Is your mind and your heart in accord?

If there's a difference,

Write down what your mind wants and then what your heart wants and then you might consider what you intuitively want.

If necessary,

Can you use your rational mind to support your intuition and heart?

Perhaps you can adopt whatever you've come to so far or perhaps it's best to have a trial period first.

So when will what you've come to begin and what will it need to go forward?

Okay.

.

.

Coming towards the end of this process now,

Knowing and accepting,

It may be the beginning of something you'll need to revisit,

But for now,

Settling to what's been achieved,

And,

If you're comfortable,

Setting aside the pens and paper,

Settling back and gently closing your eyes,

Breathing naturally,

And following the breath,

Allowing the mind to relax now.

With each out breath,

Letting thoughts,

Sounds,

Sensations go,

Knowing these things come,

Arrive,

Dissipate and go,

But aware only of the breath and the slight movement of the body as you breathe in and as you breathe out,

In and out,

Moment by moment by moment.

Hi Grace, Thank you so much for this detailed talk on contemplation. I loved your qs and was wondering if you can recommend any good reads on contemplation and asking more qs for clarity. One of book I found useful was coaching questions by Tony Slotzfus. Could you please publish few more talks on relationships, patience and self love? Looking forward to hear more from you in next few days. Regards, Arpit.
