Hi and welcome.
You're going to be doing a practice called the blossoming of the throat.
This practice can bring a great sense of relaxation and ease in the area of your throat and your voice.
We're going to be using the visualization of a blue flower in order to mentally dissolve any constriction and create a feeling of softening and effulgence in the area of your throat,
In the space of your Vishuddha chakra or throat chakra.
So please just begin by sitting in any comfortable seated position,
Lengthening your back,
Placing your skull right over the spine,
Letting go of any tension in your jaw,
And then softening the skin on your neck.
Relax your tongue,
Allowing your tongue to soften,
Allow your tongue to drop.
You can imagine doing savasana with your tongue,
Spreading gently the inside of your throat so that the inner membranes of your trachea or your windpipe become supple and leather,
Synonymous to the stem of a flower.
You can visualize the stalk of a tulip extending down into your bronchi and lungs,
And imagining soft velvety petals opening outward in all directions inside the space of your throat.
You can imagine sublime lavender petals.
Maybe you'd like to imagine the turquoise color of a pristine ocean,
A sky blue,
Or a stone or a rock that takes on the color of any shade of blue that is familiar to you,
And then further settling your attention down into the center of your throat,
Allowing the breath to gently brush through your throat.
You can imagine the breath gently brushing through the petals of the flower and tasting a delicate fragrance permeating your entire throat region,
Allowing your breath to be softer than normally,
Maybe softer than it has ever been,
Just remaining with this tender opening in the center space of your throat,
Feeling into the subtle sensations of the tissue around your throat,
Around your thyroid,
Feeling the subtle sensation of the gentle breath moving down through the windpipe into the lungs,
And continuing to visualize and imagine this expansion,
This opening and blossoming of this blue flower unfolding itself in the space of your throat,
Imagining and observing any shades of blue and color that unfold themselves naturally.
You may see the lavender blue.
You may see turquoise,
Water-like light.
You may relate the expansion of your flower to the expansion of a vast blue sky or a solid shining rock,
Sparkling,
Unfolding,
Opening in its eminence,
And continuing to soften and widen and open the space inside your throat.
And then taking a moment to come back to your body,
Come back to your physical senses as a whole,
Releasing the images in your mind,
Still noticing the breath brushing in and out of your throat,
And taking another moment to gently close your practice,
Opening your eyes whenever you're ready,
And just remaining in this feeling of softness and opening in your voice and the chest,
And moving out into the rest of your day.
Namaste.
