To our new series,
Simply Happy.
This is going to be an eight-part series of finding the happiness within.
So the first in the series is going to be a quiet smile within.
So I'd like you to take a comfortable seat and lie down somewhere you can fully relax.
Just allowing yourself,
This time,
To just relax.
Let your hands rest easily.
Allow your eyes to soften and close.
Just allow yourself to relax into this.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through the nose and let it fall out gently through the mouth.
Slow and deep in through the nose and fall out gently through the mouth.
If you feel that you can adjust yourself somewhat now to find a more restful position,
This is an ideal time to do it.
Halfway there.
Connecting with the breath.
Slow,
Deep breath in when you've found your position and let it fall out gently through the mouth.
Breathing in calm and breathing out tension.
Right here in this quiet moment,
There is nowhere to go and there is nothing to fix.
Just breathe.
Just this gentle awareness of being alive.
Feel the liveness within your body.
Let your breath find its own natural rhythm.
Not forcing,
Just allowing.
Allowing the breath to be exactly as it is.
Notice the rise and fall of your chest or belly.
The subtle movement of the air through the nose.
Belly rise,
Belly fall.
Breath is cool on the way in and warm on the way out.
Belly rise and belly fall.
Belly rise and belly fall.
As you settle,
Feel the weight of your body being held by the chair,
The bed or the earth beneath you.
There is a quiet safety in that.
A reminder that you're always supported.
Now bring a soft awareness to your face.
Let the tiny muscles around your eyes relax.
Unclench the jaw and allow the corners of your mouth to lift.
Just slightly into a gentle,
Effortless smile.
This is not a smile you make.
It's a smile that appears.
A natural expression of ease.
Let that quiet smile spread throughout your whole being.
Down your neck and shoulders.
Through your chest,
Your belly and all the way into your hands and feet.
Imagine each breath carrying that calm,
Smiling energy through you.
Feel that gentle smile within.
And allow it to express itself.
As you breathe,
Notice the stillness underneath it all.
The space that does not move.
The quiet awareness that is always here.
Happiness isn't something we have to chase or even learn.
It lives right here in this open awareness.
In the breath.
In this moment of simply being.
Rest in that.
Rest in that.
Let the breath and stillness mode.
And if thoughts arise,
Just let them drift.
Like clouds passing across the sky.
Find that joy within.
Your natural state of being.
Pure happiness.
Rest in that.
A gentle smile on the face.
Contentment in the body.
Contentment in the mind.
A simple joy of simply being.
No grasping.
No trying.
Just bring your awareness back to the breath.
Belly rise and belly fall.
Take control of the breath and start to breathe the body.
Take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
Sense that quiet smile again.
The soft warmth in your chest.
The peace that comes when you stop searching.
And stop grasping.
And stop trying.
Just allowing yourself to be.
Gently start to ease your way back now.
And as you start to come back,
Start to shift your attention outward.
But carry this gentle awareness within you.
Remember,
Happiness doesn't live somewhere else.
It's here.
Quietly waiting inside of you.
Move the body.
Take some deeper breaths.
Gently start to open the eyes and come back to this level of consciousness.
