Welcome to this walk with me for digestion and assimilation.

As we begin this walk after a meal or a snack,

Begin by giving gratitude for the miraculous experience of being a human,

Of having a digestive system that can begin in the mouth and work all the way down to release what the body does not need anymore,

All the way through the whole system.

Thank you for the food that was just eaten,

For all of the nutrients,

Vitamins and minerals,

All the ways that it provides energy to your system.

With each step,

Giving gratitude.

Thank you for the food.

Thank you for the ability to have food.

Thank you to the farmers that grew my food.

Thank you to all the loving hands that any part of the production of the food that I ate.

Thank you for the seeds that planted deep in the earth.

Thank you for their trust in nature's cycle to receive the sun and the rain and the winds and to grow into whatever deliciousness it was meant for.

For those that harvested,

For the hands that were dirty,

For the people that packaged it,

Whether it's fresh vegetables with a bunch tied around it,

Or a bag of fruit,

For the animals that produced the food on my plate,

Or that sacrificed themselves for my nourishment.

Thank you.

Thank you to my body for digesting it with such love and grace and honor.

Drinking in all the goodness and utilizing it to fuel me,

To give me the energy for this walk,

To help me balance my system as I walk with you.

Thank you to those who serve me.

I received it in a restaurant or shop.

Thank you to the cook who made it,

To the combination of spices,

To the beauty of my plate,

To the bowls of goodness filled with delicacies that I enjoyed.

Thank you to the company of either my solo meal or those that I shared the dining with.

As I walk,

I bless the whole experience,

The sweetness,

All the tastes,

All of my body functions,

From my smell to my sight,

My taste,

Hearing myself chew or the conversations I shared,

Hearing the sounds of preparing the meal,

Hearing the sounds of my feet walking,

Digesting all,

Assimilating all of the beauty of the sunlight,

Of the earth that allowed,

Allowing the breath to feel the belly moving as it's digesting.

It expands and contracts the intestines and all of the organs,

Part of your digestion process.

Thank you as it moves,

As each cell is nourished.

Thank you for the vitality.

Thank you for the health.

Thank you for the communion.

Thank you for the sacrifice.

Thank you for the glory.

Thank you for the magic.

Thank you for all the flavor you bring to my life.

May whatever I have taken in through my breath,

Through my sight,

Through my taste,

Through all of my senses,

Through my smell,

All of it,

May it be a blessing,

A blessing to my temple.

And with each step I take,

May it be a blessing of gratitude back to where it came and beyond.
