Hello my friend.
Today I'd like to call our hearts to attention.
To listen to the dense material of envy.
To meet it without judgment and instead journey with it to understand the messages it seeks to share.
I invite you to offer yourself a moment of rest for the next few minutes.
Finding a seated or reclined position where your back is supported.
If you are seated your feet can be planted anchoring you,
Reminding you that the earth is here to support you,
To love you as you tread bravely to meet your heart.
Once you've settled take a deep belly breath in through the mouth and exhale all the way out.
Deep breath in,
Exhale all out,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
And exhale.
Let your body feel heavy and held.
Find a natural rhythm of breath.
Though we have been taught to shun the emotional state of envy as all other human emotions within our scope,
It is a wholly natural and useful signal that tells us how aligned we are with our inner being.
Just as joy and love signal that you are in alignment and closest to the truth of your being,
Envy arrives as an alert saying achieving this vision or being witnessed in this way would make you feel more aligned with who you are.
The gap between that truth and where you currently are can raise a lot of discomfort and might even bring up another layer of emotion that asks us to pay attention.
Perhaps fear that you could not achieve the dreams that are calling you to be a portal for them or self-judgment for even feeling envious.
Envy might lodge itself in your throat or squeeze the chest like a low burning flame spewing fiery embers or you might feel it as tension in the head or numbness in the hands like the body's protest at not being where it wants to be,
A kind of frustration at your unrealized potential and not knowing how to get there.
As we sit here now,
Can we create space for those emotions to flow through us?
Inhale.
Exhale.
Like a wave,
Allow them to follow their natural journey and find their way out of the body.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Can we release the shame and uncover the true desires that long to be unearthed and realized?
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale to remember that you are worthy of the things you are desiring and energize you into inspired action.
To offer yourself grace along the way for experiencing a very normal human emotion.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Find your natural rhythm of breath once more.
The question becomes,
What exactly am I envious of?
So for example,
You might envy someone who has published a book.
As you see the attention they're receiving,
Perhaps they're being featured in news programs or gaining attention and followership on social media,
Getting invited to speak in the right rooms.
Ask yourself,
Are you holding envy because you want the attention of being someone who has written a book?
Or do you want to live the act of writing a book?
Is it the journey of writing that would light you up?
In this way,
You clarify what is truly calling you and in turn demystify the process of how you can get there.
So if it's writing the book you envy,
You know that in order to do it,
You must adopt a writing practice and show up to the page each day until a book is birthed.
Then be ready to audition the book to audiences and publishers to do the work it takes to launch the book and distribute it.
But if it's the public recognition and success you are seeking,
We know that what you want is to be seen,
To have your gifts witnessed,
And the work here is to begin sharing your work in public,
To push past cringe mountain,
Trust in your creative intuition,
Do the work,
The very challenging work of launching yourself into the void and give yourself a chance at success.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
What messages has the envy come to bring you?
What dream is asking you to be its portal into this reality?
Are you willing to do the work it takes to open the portal?
Are you willing to hold the polarity of the dream,
Accepting its shadow or heaviness as much as its light or lightness?
Are you willing to redirect and focus your energy towards achieving it?
Are you willing to forgo the things that one must forgo in order to achieve it?
Inhale.
Exhale.
Thank you for showing up today.
Thank you for loving yourself enough to show up.
Thank you for doing the work it takes to meet your heart.
And as we close this meditation,
May we invite appreciation into the body for ourselves,
Remembering that though we may not be where we are wanting to be yet,
We are also not where we once were.
Just allowing yourself to really sit with that,
The fact that you are your younger self's dream.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
As you journey,
May you be soft.
May you be supple.
May you be malleable.
May you allow yourself to explore what one's exploring,
What is asking for your attention.
Thank you for meditating with me today,
And I wish you a beautiful week.
