Today we continue building on our standing foundation from yesterday but today we're opening the side of the body.
So begin again in mountain pose.
Sweep the arms up overhead as you breathe in and interlace your fingers.
If this feels too much for your shoulders just keep the hands wider,
Maybe even rest your hands on your shoulders instead or cross your hands over your heart.
We'll inhale to imagine lengthening through the spine and as you exhale gently lean to one side,
Feeling an opening through the ribs and the side of the waist.
Inhale when you come back to centre and exhale as you move to the other side.
Move slowly between the two sides for as many breaths as you wish.
Don't force,
Keep things gentle.
After the colder months the body can hold tension,
Particularly around the area of the ribs and chest.
These gentle side stretches will create space for fuller breathing and better circulation.
Allow the movement to remain soft and responsive rather than deep or forceful.
Feel the breath expanding the ribcage as you move.
Pause or stop when you feel balanced and ready to continue with the rest of your day.
I'll see you again tomorrow.
