Inspired by the saying, "Micro joys is how we surive macro grief", the guided mindfulness meditation invites you to become more aware of the little moments of joy that we often miss in everyday life. Training our minds to be more observant and present, we notice spontaneous moments of joy, which allows to feel the joy of the moment more fully - which then influences our overall mood and perception of life. Awaken to joy!

Hi,

Thanks for being here for this meditation on joy.

My name is Sarah and I invite you to just settle in,

Find a way to sit or to lie down that feels good to your body,

Your mind,

Your heart in this moment.

As you settle in,

Notice the contact of the surface you're sitting on or lying on.

Bring your attention into your body.

Maybe you can observe the wave-like movement of your breathing in the body,

The rise and the fall.

Just giving ourselves a moment to ground here and now.

So joy.

Maybe you chose this particular meditation because you've been seeking joy or it's been a while since you consciously felt joy.

One of the big challenges we have is that we're so busy and our minds spend so many moments,

Just so much time of every day,

Either in the past or in the future,

Distracted,

Caught in the algorithms of social media.

That we miss spontaneous,

Natural moments of joy.

So the idea is that there's more joy than we realize and what we can do is pay more attention,

Be more present so we can notice dogs playing on a field,

Just pure happiness and joy embodied,

Or butterflies dancing,

Unexpected laughter,

Small acts of kindness.

So I invite you to ask yourself,

When do I feel joy?

What brings me joy in everyday life?

And allow yourself,

As you remember and visualize those moments,

Those experiences,

Allow yourself to smile,

The corners of your mouth to rise up.

Maybe it was a reunion with a loved one or good food,

A joke,

Whatever it was,

Replay that moment in your mind and let the joy of that memory fill your whole body.

Your whole heart and enjoy sitting in this bubble of joy.

Take it in,

Soak it up.

There's a saying that that with micro joys we survive macro grief.

So paying more attention,

Being more present for the little joys,

Such a secret to more happiness.

Just allow yourself another moment,

Maybe you're still smiling,

Maybe your heart feels like it's brimming,

It's light.

Just another moment sitting in this bubble of joy.

Very good.

And so maybe you can take this away as a reminder.

As you go through your day,

As you do the groceries and drive to work,

To be more attentive to moments of joy,

To notice them.

And allow them to move you.

Allow them to make you smile and make you laugh.

There's more joy out there than we often see.

That's my wish for you.

To feel more joy because you're more present for those spontaneous natural moments.

Thank you for sharing this time and sharing this moment of joy actually with me.

May you be well.
