Welcome to this evening meditation.
I hope I'm able to bring you some peace to end your day.
This is your moment to land and to soften,
To let the day loosen its grip on your shoulders.
Start by taking a slow deep breath in and exhale completely.
Let your body settle wherever you are,
Whether it's the bed,
The couch,
The floor,
And just let yourself be held for once today.
You've carried so much more than anyone knows and right now you don't need to carry anything.
Let's start with your breath.
Inhale gently through your nose and feel your ribs widen and exhale through your mouth,
Letting the day fall away.
Do that again.
A slow breath in and a slow breath out.
Breathing signals safety to your nervous system.
You're reminding your body that it's okay to rest and it's okay to be at peace now.
Now bring your attention to your forehead.
Release any tension it may have.
Let it smooth out.
Now relax your jaw,
Unclench it,
And let your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth.
Relax your neck,
Your shoulders.
Feel them fall just a little heavier.
Now imagine the entire day sitting in your hands.
Every conversation,
Every moment you tried,
Every moment you struggled,
And every moment you showed up even when you retired.
I want you to feel the weight of it all and now feel the weight of it all.
Not to hold on to it or dwell on it,
But just to acknowledge that the feelings and experiences you had today are real.
Now picture yourself opening your hands and letting that weight drip down and away like sand pouring out grain by grain.
You don't need to fix today.
You don't need to rewrite it.
You just get to release it now.
Let's soften the mind now.
Imagine there's a whiteboard in front of you and on it you see the thoughts still buzzing from today.
The worries,
The replaying moments,
The to-do lists,
All of it is up there.
One by one I want you to gently erase them,
Not forcing anything to be gone,
But just clearing space for thoughts and for peace.
Just remember your mind doesn't have to work right now.
It's time for it to be quiet and for it to be held.
Now place one hand on your chest and one on your belly and feel your body breathing.
Feel the warmth of your own presence.
Say to yourself quietly in your mind,
I am safe.
I am here.
The day is now done.
Let your breath become slow and steady.
Let your thoughts become soft and distant.
Let your heart feel supported and unwound.
There is nothing left for you to do tonight.
You've earned the rest,
You've earned the gentleness,
And you've earned the peace.
As you drift towards the rest of your evening,
Or even into sleep if that's what you need,
Carry this truth with you.
You don't have to hold on to everything.
You can set things down and you can begin again tomorrow.
But for now,
Just focus on breathing and let the night take care of you.
Thank you for listening and I hope you have a good night.
