There are times in life when we need to be still and restorative. There are times especially after a setback when we need to go within and mirror the season of winter which is a quiet time for reflection and rebuilding. This practice honors the seasons that live within all of us.

The following meditation is a body relaxation designed to help you let go of things,

Ideas,

And situations that no longer serve you.

Things you cannot control.

Things that are out of your reach.

Things you can possibly go back to when your well is full and you have the chi and strength to entertain them.

But for now,

For this moment,

For this sweet precious moment,

We will free up the tangled,

The weighted,

The bags of unneeded things we are carrying around.

And just breathe.

It is winter and if you observe trees in the winter you will see how they grow quiet,

Still,

Slim.

See how they let go of their leaves,

Their beautiful yellow burgundy leaves fall to the ground and are forgotten.

Also,

The birds no longer need them to store their nests.

Everything in winter moves quietly and are out just to get what they need and nothing more.

They are resting and it's okay.

The trees may not have their leaves but they still have their roots and the roots are what make the trees.

And always remember just because you let go doesn't mean you are no longer strong or no longer needed.

It just means you are in your own personal winter.

You are imitating nature while she is restoring.

You can experience a personal winter during any season,

Especially after an upset or after you've been let down.

Simply let go like the trees.

Restore underground where it is safe.

Grow your roots.

Feed your roots.

Sing to your roots.

Decorate them.

Hold on to nothing,

Dear one.

Embrace the darkness of your life,

The soil of your life,

And make love to it.

And always allow the darkness to love you back.

There is great purpose there.

And once your roots are strong and steady,

You can grow to the highest,

Most magnificent tree full of love and fruit to share.

But for now,

For this sweet precious moment,

Be a tree in winter and be reassured that the leaves will come back only when you are ready.

Thank you for your listening.

Thank you. A simple message but somehow gives permission to allow time to recover and just be a tree in winter.
