Notice your connection to the ground.

Close your eyes if you're comfortable.

If not,

You can soft gaze at the floor.

Take some deep breaths and let yourself relax.

Take a moment to get in touch with your functional adult.

It might help to lean slightly to your right and feel your functional adult energy which is installed on the right side of your chest.

Recognize the qualities of your functional adult.

Your functional adult is the part of you that can hold on to and embrace your value and your worth.

Your functional adult recognizes that your value and worth cannot be added on to and it also cannot be taken away from.

You are equal to everyone else just as you are.

Your functional adult is the part of you that has appropriate boundaries.

Your functional adult holds your external boundary high enough or strong enough to protect you from other people's emotional baggage.

And your functional adult holds your external boundary low enough or permeable enough so that you can recognize the experience of others.

Your functional adult holds your internal boundary high enough or solid enough so that you do not dump your own emotional baggage on others.

And your functional adult holds your internal boundary low enough or permeable enough so that you allow yourself to be appropriately known to others.

Your functional adult is able to adjust your internal and external boundaries appropriately given the people you are interacting with and the situation that you are in.

Your functional adult is the part of you that can embrace and accept your imperfections.

Recognizing that your imperfections do not make you good or bad,

They are simply part of being human.

Likewise,

Your functional adult can accept the imperfections of others.

Recognizing that they are not good or bad,

But human.

However,

Your functional adult does hold appropriate boundaries with other people while simultaneously recognizing their humanity.

Your functional adult is the part of you that finds appropriate interdependence with others.

Your functional adult allows others to support you in meeting your needs and your wants.

Your functional adult takes responsibility for your needs and wants and does not turn this responsibility over to others.

Your functional adult supports others in meeting their needs and wants,

But does not take responsibility for their needs or wants.

Your functional adult finds moderation and balance in all things.

Take some time and recognize these five qualities of your functional adult.

Recognizing your own value and worth.

Recognizing your ability to have and adjust your boundaries appropriately.

Embracing your humanity and all the imperfections that come with your humanity.

Finding appropriate interdependence with other people.

And finding moderation and balance in all things.

Holding on to your functional adult energy.

Recognize your connection to the ground.

Take some deep breaths and when you're ready,

Open your eyes and continue on your life's journey with your functional adult leading the way.
