Hi,

This is Theresa Conte.

Tonight I'd like to read you a bedtime story about A Little Mermaid.

The Little Mermaid was originally written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1836,

But tonight I'd like to read you an adaptation of the story from 2021 by the Flowerpot Press.

While The Little Mermaid may seem like a conventional and traditional story about a mermaid who wishes to be married,

In essence it is a transformational story that teaches us how we can use our dreams,

Our intentions,

And our visions to create the lives we wish to live.

So I invite you to lie down,

Get comfortable,

Close your eyes,

And take a breath.

And go on this journey with me.

And perhaps at the end of the story,

Imagine an aspect of your life you would like to create and take that into your dream time with you.

And now,

Princess Storytime,

The Little Mermaid.

A long time ago in a place not too far from here,

There lived a beautiful little mermaid named Annie.

Annie was an undersea princess.

Her father,

The undersea king,

Loved her very much.

But Annie loved the world outside the sea and always dreamed of walking on land.

One day when Annie was swimming,

She came upon a sailor who had been thrown from his boat.

This was not just any sailor.

This was Prince Alexander,

The most handsome prince Annie had ever seen.

When Annie saw Alexander drowning,

She rushed over to save him and take him safely to the shore.

As she swam away,

She thought,

I will never forget him.

And she never did.

Every day from that day on,

Annie would go to the shore to meet Prince Alexander by the rocks at the base of his castle.

They would spend hours talking,

Laughing,

And eventually they fell in love.

One day,

Alexander said,

I wish to become a merman.

I want to marry you and live out our days together in the sea.

But this could never happen.

Men can never become mermen.

And it is almost And it is almost impossible for mermaids to become human.

Almost.

For a mermaid to become human,

It requires one big wish and one big event.

A true love's kiss.

Annie made one big wish.

She wished to become human so she could marry Prince Alexander.

He was Annie's true love.

She wished they would kiss and then her big wish would come true.

Lucky for Annie,

Her wish was about to come true.

During one of their visits,

As Prince Alexander leaned over to talk to Annie,

A big gust of wind pushed him into her arms and they kissed.

Quick as you can blink,

Annie's fins turned to legs and she walked out of the water with a dress fit for a princess.

When true love happens,

It is magical.

When magic happens,

It helps true love grow.

When it all comes together,

Then a prince and a princess,

Even a human and a mermaid,

Can get married.

And that is exactly what happened in this story.

And Annie and Alexander lived happily ever after.

And now I invite you to envision an aspect of your life you would like to create.

Imagine this scene in your mind's eye.

Notice who you are with,

What you are doing,

And what you are experiencing.

And more importantly,

Notice what you are feeling.

Then take this vision into your dream time with you.

And when you awake in the morning,

Know that it too can come true.

Wishing you a deep and restful sleep.
