Before we begin,
Grab a pen and something to write on and set it nearby.
You won't need it yet,
But you'll want it when we're done.
Go ahead and find a comfortable position,
Seated or lying down.
Let your hands rest somewhere easy and comfortable.
Roll your shoulders back and down,
Unclench your jaw,
And if it feels right,
Go ahead and gently close your eyes.
Take a nice deep breath in through your nose,
Slow,
Full,
Hold it at the top,
And when you're ready,
Let it go.
Again nice deep breath in,
And then a nice big release.
We're going to do this one more time,
And this time as you exhale,
Allow yourself to arrive fully in this moment,
Right here,
Right now.
Whatever you were doing before,
This doesn't need your attention anymore.
Whatever is waiting for you after,
Can wait a little longer.
You're here now,
And that's enough.
Begin to let your breath find its own natural rhythm.
You don't need to control it,
Just notice it.
The rise and fall of your chest or your belly,
The slight pause at the top of each inhale,
The release.
With each breath,
Feel yourself settling a little more fully into your body,
Into this moment.
If thoughts come,
And they will,
Just notice them without following them.
Let them pass through like clouds.
You don't have to do anything with them right now.
Just return gently to your breath.
Now bring your attention to your body,
And do a slow,
Quiet scan from the top of your head all the way down to your feet.
Noticing where you're holding tension,
Your forehead,
Your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your chest,
Your belly,
Your hands.
Wherever you find tightness or resistance,
Just breathe into it.
You don't have to fix anything,
Just bring a little warmth and attention there,
And let it soften on the exhale.
You might be carrying things that aren't even yours.
The energy of other people's days,
Other people's expectations,
Let that go too.
This time is just for you.
Now I want you to bring to mind your work,
Your business,
Your practice,
Your creative endeavor,
Whatever feels most alive for you right now.
Not the to-do list of it,
Not the problems or the pressures,
Just the heart of it.
Let yourself feel into why you started.
What pulled you toward this kind of work in the first place?
There was something,
A calling,
A curiosity,
A deep knowing that this was yours to do.
Maybe it came on suddenly,
Maybe it crept up on you slowly over years,
But something brought you here.
See if you can connect with that feeling again now,
What it felt like before the noise started,
Before the second guessing and the comparison and the wondering if you were doing it right.
Just the thing itself,
Your work,
What it is when it's most fully itself.
As you hold that feeling,
I want you to gently bring your attention to your heart center,
The middle of your chest,
And imagine a soft light there.
Whatever color comes naturally to you,
Warm and steady.
With each breath,
Let that light grow a little brighter,
A little more expansive,
Not forcing anything,
Just allowing.
This light is your creative self,
The part of you that knows what it's here to make,
The part that has always known,
Even when the rest of you was uncertain.
Breathe into it.
From this place,
I want to invite a few questions to move through you.
You don't need to answer them right now.
Just let them land and notice what stirs.
What do you love doing so much that you lose track of time?
What do you want to put into the world through your work?
Not for anyone else,
But because it matters to you.
What do you want to be known for?
Not your title,
Not your niche,
The quality,
The feeling,
The thing people sense about your work before they can even name it.
What do you want this business to give your life beyond income?
What does it feel like to be inside your work when it's exactly what you want it to be?
And what keeps you going?
When things get hard and they do,
What do you come back to?
What reminds you why you're doing this?
Just breathe with these questions.
Let whatever comes up,
Come up.
There are no right answers,
Only honest ones.
Now let yourself imagine,
Very simply and without pressure,
The work you most want to be doing.
Not a perfect vision,
Just a glimpse,
A sense.
What are you making or offering or sharing?
What does your day feel like?
What kind of people are you in conversation with?
What does it feel like in your body to be doing work that is fully,
Unmistakably yours?
Let yourself stay here for a moment in that feeling,
In that possibility.
This isn't wishful thinking.
This is orientation.
This is you getting clear on what you're actually building before anyone else gets a say in it.
Whatever came up for you during this meditation,
Images,
Words,
Feelings,
Questions,
Hold on to them.
In a moment,
I'll invite you to come back fully,
And when you do,
I want you to reach for that pen and write down whatever is present.
Don't edit it.
Don't explain it.
Don't try to make it useful yet.
Just get it down.
Sometimes the most important things come through quietly and disappear quickly if we don't catch them.
Begin to bring your awareness back to the room you're in.
Feel the weight of your body where you're sitting or lying down.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Take a nice,
Slow breath in,
And let it go with a little more sound this time if that feels good.
Take another nice,
Deep breath.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Reach for your pen and write down whatever came up,
Whatever is still with you.
There's no need to filter it.
You'll know what to do with it from here.
