Welcome,

Beloved soul.

My name is Sarah,

And tonight,

I invite you to journey with me into the forest,

Into the arms of nature,

Into the wisdom of the spirits,

And into deepest rest.

I invite you to close your eyes now.

Feel the surface beneath you supporting your body.

Allow your shoulders to soften.

Allow your breath to settle.

You are safe.

You are home in your body.

Now imagine yourself standing at the edge of a vast and ancient forest.

The sky above you is painted with twilight,

Deep purples and indigos blending together.

The very first stars sparkle into view,

Bright and gentle,

As though the universe itself is watching over you.

The forest before you is alive with sound,

The soft rustle of leaves,

The distant call of a night bird,

The gentle trickle of water flowing over stones.

The scent of pine and cedar greets you.

The air is cool,

Refreshing,

Filled with the promise of peace.

A narrow path stretches out before you.

Take a slow step forward,

Then another,

Feeling the earth beneath your feet.

With each step,

Feel your body lighten.

Allow any worries that you are holding onto right now to dissolve into the air of the forest.

You do not need to carry them into your dreams.

Fireflies blink in the shadows like lanterns,

Guiding you deeper and deeper into the heart of the woods.

Soon,

As you walk,

Ahead of you,

You notice a soft glow.

As you walk closer,

You see it's a fire,

A gentle,

Welcoming fire,

Burning in the center of a clearing.

Around the fire,

You see them,

The animals and the spirits of the forest.

They are waiting for you.

The wise owl with its gleaming,

Golden eyes,

The gentle deer with a heart as soft as dawn,

The great bear,

Strong and steady,

The spirit of water,

Flowing and shimmering like moonlight,

The spirits of trees and wind,

Tall and graceful,

Swaying together as one.

They turn toward you as you arrive,

And their eyes shine with warmth.

They smile as though they have been waiting for you all along.

They beckon you forward.

You belong here.

As you step into the clearing,

The firelight flickers,

Casting golden shapes on the ground.

The stars above glimmer more brightly now,

Watching over this sacred circle.

At the edge of the firelight,

You see a place that's been prepared just for you,

A soft,

Mossy mat,

Thick and fragrant,

Waiting.

You sink down into it like a bed,

And the earth cradles you in its arms.

One by one,

The animals and spirits tend to you with care.

The deer steps forward and lays a woven blanket of grasses and flowers over your body.

It is light and so warm,

Wrapping you in gentleness.

The owl hovers above you and brushes your forehead with a feather,

Blessing your dreams with clarity and vision.

The bear sets down a steaming cup of tea beside you,

Calming,

Fragrant,

Filled with the essence of roots and herbs of the forest.

The spirit of water leans close,

Placing a cool kiss upon your forehead.

Peace ripples through your body.

The spirits of the trees and the wind bend together,

Rocking gently,

Sending a sweet night breeze to wash over you.

In this space,

You are free to feel safe,

To feel cared for,

To feel deeply loved.

Now,

Let's breathe together.

Take a slow,

Deep inhale through the nose,

Filling up the belly,

Filling up the chest.

Hold the breath gently for a moment,

And then exhale release,

Slowly and completely,

Sigh it out.

Again,

Deep inhale through the nose,

Breathing in,

Filling up.

Hold for just a moment at the top,

And then exhale soft and long,

Let it go,

Sigh it out.

One last time,

A deep inhale through the nose,

Filling up the belly,

Filling up the chest.

Pause,

And a slow,

Complete exhale,

Sigh it out,

Let it go.

Allow your body to soften,

Relax.

Allow your eyelids to grow heavy.

As sleepiness begins to wash through you,

The animals and spirits gather closer around the fire,

And as you rest,

They begin to tell their stories.

The spirit of water rises,

Shimmering in the firelight.

Her voice is like a stream flowing over smooth stones.

Long ago,

She begins,

There was a river,

Who believed it must always rush forward.

Day and night,

Season after season,

It hurried across the land.

But the faster it moved,

The more that it washed away.

The fish grew weary,

The banks of the river began to crumble.

The river felt empty,

Though it flowed endlessly.

Then one summer,

A great drought came.

The river had no choice but to slow down.

To pause in deep pools.

At first,

The river grieved its stillness,

But after a while,

Something wondrous happened.

The fish began to gather again in the calm waters.

Animals came to drink,

Children played along its riverbanks.

Plants took root where once the current was too strong.

The river realized strength is not always rushing ahead.

Strength can be found in stillness,

In nourishment,

In rest.

As the spirit of water finishes her story,

She bends close to you.

She whispers affirmations in your ear.

I am nourished in stillness.

Rest is strength.

I am safe to flow and balance with life.

Feel the cool kiss of water ripple through your body,

Bringing peace and renewal.

Now the owl flutters from her branch and perches near the fire.

Her golden eyes gleaming,

The deer steps forward beside her,

Graceful and calm.

The owl begins,

One winter,

I told the deer that the world was dangerous.

I see with sharp eyes,

I said.

Notice every shadow,

Prepare for every threat.

But the deer shook her head.

The world is gentle,

She said.

See with soft eyes,

Trust in kindness,

And you will be safe.

The owl and the deer argued.

The owl sharpened her gaze until she was lonely and cold.

The deer softened her sight until she stumbled into danger.

One snowy night,

They found each other again,

And they realized that wisdom is not found in sharpness alone,

Nor in softness alone.

True vision is both,

To see clearly and also to see kindly.

The deer and the owl bow their heads toward you,

And together they whisper.

I see the truth clearly.

I meet the world with compassion.

My vision is both strong and gentle.

The owl brushes your forehead once more with her feather.

The deer nuzzles your hand.

You feel clarity and kindness filling your dreams.

Now the bear shifts a little closer,

Lying down beside you,

Massive and protective.

The wind circles around,

Cool and soft,

Rustling the branches overhead.

The bear rumbles in a deep voice.

Long ago,

When winter fell heavy upon the land,

I grew tired and curled into my den.

As I slept,

The wind carried dreams to me,

Dreams of warm rains,

Of green shoots pushing through the soil,

Of my cubs playing in spring's light.

I held those dreams all through the darkness,

And when I woke,

The dreams had become real.

The forest bloomed again.

The earth was renewed.

Together,

The wind and I kept life alive in my heart through the winter.

The wind carried the dream,

And I kept it safe within me.

The wind spirit sighs gently around you,

Whispering.

I hold dreams of renewal within me.

Even in the darkness,

Light stirs.

I am protected and guided,

Even as I rest.

The bear lowers its great head beside you,

Standing guard next to you through the night.

The spirits of trees rise tall at the circle's edge,

Their trunks stretching to the stars.

The wind dances among their branches,

Their voices intertwined.

The trees speak.

Long ago,

We felt lonely,

Rooted in one place.

We longed to wander,

To share our voices with the world.

The wind sighed.

I travel everywhere,

Yet I have no home.

So we made a promise,

The wind and the trees.

The trees opened our leaves,

And the wind danced through them,

Carrying our voices far and wide.

The wind vowed always to return,

Telling us stories from distant lands.

From then on,

We were never alone.

The trees belonged to the wind,

And the wind belonged to the trees.

Together,

We discovered the secret of belonging.

To root deeply,

And also to share freely.

The spirits of the wind and the trees bend toward you,

Whispering.

I deeply belong to life.

Connection surrounds me always.

I rest knowing that I am a part of something greater.

A gentle breeze flows through your chest,

Filling you with peace and unity.

From the shadows,

Three silver-furred rabbits hop into the firelight.

They sit in a row,

Ears tall.

The first rabbit speaks.

Once,

We were always busy.

Chasing clouds.

Chasing each other.

Chasing time.

The second rabbit adds.

When a storm came,

We scattered.

Frightened.

Each of us running alone.

The world was loud,

And we could not hear each other's cries.

The third rabbit whispers.

At last,

I stopped running.

I sat still,

And I listened.

Beneath the storm's roar,

I heard the faint beating of my sister's hearts.

They had stopped too,

Listening for me.

The three rabbits smile.

By listening,

We found one another again.

Since that day,

We remember,

The quiet will always guide us home.

The three rabbits lean in close and whisper.

I listen deeply to the world around me.

In stillness,

I find what I seek.

I am never truly alone.

Connection surrounds me.

My heart will always guide me home.

The three rabbits tuck your blanket in a little bit tighter and nuzzle your hands.

Then they curl up beside you,

Breathing softly in rhythm with your breath.

The fire glows low now,

Embers shining like stars on the ground.

The stories have been told.

The forest is at peace.

The owl tucks her wings in close.

The deer curls up near your feet.

The bear lies at your side,

Warm and protective.

The spirit of water flows softly nearby,

Humming a lullaby.

The spirits of wind and trees sway gently,

Their song rocking the whole forest to sleep.

The rabbits kiss your forehead goodnight.

One by one,

They all settle into slumber.

You too feel yourself drifting,

Safe among your companions.

Safe in the circle of the forest.

The stars above twinkle brightly,

Then slowly blur into dreamlight.

Your breath is soft.

Your body heavy.

Your heart at ease.

You are safe.

You are loved.

You are whole.

And now,

I invite you to drift into the deepest,

Most peaceful sleep.

Goodnight,

Dear one.
