Welcome,
I am Jerry,
A mindfulness coach and the founder of Nishrayasa,
A holistic wellness studio based in Fort Kochi,
Kerala.
In this meditation,
We will be cultivating Meta-awareness by noticing where our attention is resting and gently guiding it back to the present moment.
Find a comfortable position.
Allow your body to feel fully supported.
If it feels comfortable,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Take a slow deep breath in and slowly breathe out.
Again.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Now allow the breath to settle into its own natural rhythm.
Bring your awareness to the breath.
Feeling each inhale and each exhale.
Allow the breath to become your anchor.
Sooner or later,
Your attention will naturally move.
There is nothing wrong with this.
It is simply what the mind does.
The practice is to notice where attention has gone.
Now,
Without trying to change anything,
Notice where your attention is resting.
If it feels helpful,
Quietly give it a simple label.
Planning,
Remembering Imagining.
Listening.
Feeling.
Judging.
Worrying or perhaps breathing.
Simply notice.
And then gently return to the breath.
Again,
Notice where your attention is.
Perhaps your attention has moved to a sound,
A sensation in the body.
And emotion.
Or memory.
Or perhaps it has remained with the breath.
Whatever you notice,
Simply acknowledge it and gently return.
There is no need to judge where attention has gone.
There is no right place or wrong place.
Each moment of noticing is a moment of awareness.
Each gentle return strengthens your ability to be present.
Continue resting with the breath.
Whenever you become aware that attention has moved,
Pause.
Recognize where it is.
Perhaps it's planning,
Remembering,
Listening,
Feeling,
Judging,
Anticipating,
Problem-solving.
Simply label it and gently return.
Notice how attention continues to move from one experience to another.
Nothing needs to be controlled.
Simply becoming familiar with its movement.
Recognizing and returning again and again.
As you continue,
Notice that there is a quiet awareness already present,
Aware of where attention goes,
And aware of each gentle return.
Rest in this knowing.
Now gently bring your awareness back to the breath,
Feeling the natural rhythm of each inhale and each exhale.
Notice the body sitting here,
The sounds around you,
The simple experience of this moment.
As this meditation comes to a close,
Remember that this practice is always available at any moment during your day.
You can simply pause,
Notice where your attention is,
Perhaps silently label it,
And gently choose to return with no force,
But with patience.
Not with judgment,
But with kindness.
Begin to notice your fingers and toes.
And when you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Thank you for practicing with me.
